The situation was equally difficult for livestock. Animals could often be seen wandering around the well, desperately searching for water. Whenever someone fetched water, the thirsty animals would rush towards them, hoping to take a quick sip before the precious water was carried away. The frustration was visible, not only among the people but also among the animals. Yet, the reality was harsh: the water available was insufficient even for human consumption.
The well itself was an open source that had served the community for more than four decades. Unfortunately, it was neither clean nor hygienic. At one point, tragedy struck when a dog fell into the well and died without the knowledge of the villagers. For more than a week, the community unknowingly consumed the contaminated water. It was only after the water developed a foul smell and residents began complaining of stomach pains that an investigation was conducted. A villager was lowered into the well, only to discover the remains of the dead dog at the bottom.
Today, that nightmare has come to an end.
Through the generous support of our donors, under the Children of Adam Appeal, and courtesy of Hafiz Sulayman & Family, a clean and reliable water source has been provided for the people of Sinchu Colley. What was once a daily struggle has now become a source of relief, dignity, and hope for the entire community.
This water project is more than just a well, it is a lifeline that will improve health, save time, support livelihoods, and benefit generations to come.
