In yesterday's workshop we made macrame mats and bottle holders and one person worked so fast we can even show you a finished example.

In the afternoon Hayley Mills-Styles () gave a varied and entertaining talk about her work with community groups making a new panel for the Leeds Tapestry and her own recent work demonstrating, as she said, that you can embroider onto any material.

At tomorrow's meeting, in our 10:30 morning workshop we will be making macrame water bottle holders and mats, no experience necessary. In the afternoon session, beginning at 2:00, Hayley Mills-Styles will be speaking to us about the Leeds Tapestry.

All are welcome and it's fine to just turn up on the day. See our pinned post for more details.

At Saturday's meeting, Elnaz Yazdani spoke to us about her teaching and artist practise creating embroidery and jewellery from unusual materials. From the discussion afterwards, it was clear that we were all admiring of the skill and inventiveness of her work and several members were forming ideas for their own projects. More of Elnaz' can be seen at elnazyazdani.com and on Instagram.

At our next meeting at Saturday 27th January, we will be working on our individual projects in the morning, starting at 10:30. In the 2pm session, Elnaz Yazdani (elnazyazdani.com) will give a talk on her work using traditional embroidery techniques with industrial and upcycled materials.

At the November meeting we spent the morning making gonks then had our bring and share Christmas lunch. One member of the Group sewed quickly enough to finish her gonk (in the blue jacket) and the workshop brought us in some examples to show us the way.

At our next meeting on Saturday 25th November, a member of the group will lead a workshop teaching us to make Christmas Gonks.
