We invite you to our free event to determine how Leeds can meet its statutory obligation to provide a named key worker to support families following the unexpected death of their child (SUDIC).

Co hosted with Alex Sobel MP our event brings together a range of professionals and families to improve SUDIC support across Leeds

A critical gap has emerged in statutory support for families in Leeds following SUDIC.

Until April 2026, bereaved families in Leeds had access to a dedicated Bereavement Support Worker through a charity partnership supported by Elliot's Footprint. Following a restructuring decision by our charity partner, this role no longer exists.

As a result, Leeds has lost its named key worker provision, leaving families facing the devastating and traumatic loss of a child without a consistent point of contact to guide them through complex investigations, services, and support systems at one of the most difficult times in their lives.

On 27 May 2026, Elliot's Footprint launched the Holding Leeds Through Loss campaign. The campaign seeks to bring together statutory agencies, healthcare providers, charities, and community partners to develop a sustainable solution that enables Leeds to meet its statutory obligation to provide a named key worker for families affected by SUDIC.

By working collectively, we can ensure that no bereaved family faces this journey alone and that compassionate, coordinated support is available when it is needed most.

Please join us on Monday 21st September to make change happen.

We had a fantastic event last night to launch our new campaign, Holding Leeds Through Loss, alongside the premiere of our new film produced by Sam Teale Productions, which shares the heartfelt stories of families supported by Elliot’s Footprint.

The event was kindly hosted by University of Leeds and was attended by around 50 guests, including representatives from the NHS, the police, and Councillor Alex Sobel MP.

Our new campaign is calling for a multi-agency, collective approach to improve bereavement support for families affected by Sudden Unexpected Death in Childhood (SUDIC). We know that no family should face this journey alone, and that’s why we need your help.

If you have expertise to share, would like to partner with us, help shape better support services, or simply help spread the word, we would love to hear from you. Please also share this post with anyone who may be able to support the campaign.

We’re looking forward to sharing the film on our social channels and website very soon!

You can find more information about the campaign and details on how to get involved at http://ElliotsFootprint.org ❤️

Today would have been Elliot's 16th birthday and we are proud to be marking this day with the launch of our new campaign - Holding Leeds Through Loss - a multi-agency approach to bereavement support for families affected by sudden death in infancy and childhood (SUDIC). Together, we are building a compassionate, coordinated response across Leeds to support families experiencing SUDIC.

Our objectives are;
-To bring together partners across health, social care, education, voluntary and community sectors.
-To ensure compassionate, coordinated and timely bereavement support for families affected by SUDIC.
-To reduce inequalities and improve access to the right support at the right time.
-To create safe spaces for families to be heard, informed and involved in shaping support.
-To build a sustainable, compassionate network that holds families in Leeds through loss.

To do this we need your help though – members of the NHS, West Yorkshire Police, Members of Parliament, Councillors, Charities and individuals who can and want to make a difference.

We need you to;
-Share expertise
-Spread the word.
-Partner with us.
-Help shape better support.

Together we can make Leeds a place where no family has to suffer alone the unexpected death of a child.

Please join the collective effort to strengthen bereavement support across Leeds.

A huge thank you to the wonderful team at Squire Patton Boggs Leeds office for their continued support!

Each month, teams take turns baking delicious treats for their cake trolley sale, bringing both smiles and generosity around the office. Alongside the cakes, they’ve also been promoting Elliot’s Footprint merchandise – a fantastic way to raise even more for the cause.

We’re delighted to share that this month’s cake trolley and merchandise sale raised an amazing £216.50. Thank you to everyone involved for your creativity, effort, and ongoing support!

What a fantastic evening! The Murder Mystery Event yesterday hosted by Squire Patton Boggs LLP, Elliot’s Footprint charity partner, was an absolute triumph from start to finish raising an impressive £140. The atmosphere was engaging and full of energy, with everyone really getting into character and embracing the fun of solving the mystery.

The storyline was cleverly written by Caitlin Deacon with just the right number of twists to keep us guessing throughout the night. The actors delivered brilliant performances, making the whole experience feel immersive and entertaining. It was wonderful to see so many people laughing, collaborating, and thoroughly enjoying themselves.

On top of that, knowing the event was in support of Elliot’s Footprint made it even more special. A huge amount of effort clearly went into organising everything, and it paid off beautifully. A memorable night for all the right reasons; great fun, great company, and all to support our charity.
