National Black Dog Day….

Well we are very biased because our Hall Green girl Madge is a black beauty and despite having some silver bits now her coat is still silky black and glistens in the sunshine.

Plenty of them in kennels across the Greyhound Trust so don’t delay have a look at all the black beauties still looking for homes across the UK

💨 Fast dogs need secure leads!

Did you know greyhounds can reach speeds of around 45mph in just a few strides? 😮‍💨

⚠️ That incredible speed is one of the reasons you should never use an extendable lead with a greyhound.

If a greyhound suddenly spots something they want to chase, an extendable lead allows them to build up speed and momentum very quickly which can put both hound and handler at risk!

For safer walks, we recommend using a correctly fitted fishtail collar or a suitable harness, with a standard fixed-length lead. 💚🐾

A fishtail collar is specially designed for sighthounds, whose slimmer necks can make it easier for them to slip out of conventional collars…

A secure lead means you can enjoy your walks together with confidence. 😊

We have some lovely leather lead and collar sets and will have these for sale at our Great Global Greyhound Walk next Sunday in Yorkshire - after this we will put them up for sale on this page and our eBay shop RRP £44 our price £32

Always lovely to hear about our homed greyhounds doing well and especially when they reach the lovely age of teenager.

We got a message recently from adopter John Wood about Queenie who was homed 8 years ago

“ Queenie was 13 yesterday. She came to us 8 years ago and it is a joy to have her in our family.

She is very well behaved and although she is quite an independent soul she does like a bit of fuss.

She is on the small size but has the heart of a lion. She loves a ride in the car and is agile, jumping in and out with no problem “

Hope you were spoilt rotten on your birthday sweet girl.
