RECLAIMING NARRATIVES ✍️

We will be celebrating 59 Years this year. As we build up towards our 60th Jubilee Anniversary in 2027 🎉

Carnival is a celebration of Emancipation of our Four Fathers………. ✍️

The first Caribbean Carnival in Europe was in Leeds in 1967 founded by Arthur France and others, who remembers the first year being packed, with people who thought his mad idea would never work.

This footage was filmed 2015 nearing Leeds West Indian Carnival’s 50th anniversary. Leeds West Indian Carnival attracts an estimated 100,000 to 150,000 people to Potternewton Park, Chapeltown each year.

We continue this celebration of our culture, heritage, education, history and so much more. As we are now nearing the Leeds West Indian Carnival’s 60th anniversary.
