𝑶𝒏𝒍𝒚 𝑶𝒏𝒆 𝑴𝒐𝒏𝒕𝒉 𝑻𝒐 𝑮𝒐

The Thoresby Society is pleased to support Trivial Pursuit Leeds!

🎲Leeds is set to become a giant board game this summer as TRIVIAL PURSUIT arrives in the city centre to celebrate a landmark moment in its history. Leeds BID (Leeds Business Improvement District) is transforming the city into a live interactive version of Hasbro’s iconic TRIVIAL PURSUIT board game, inviting residents and visitors to test their knowledge of all things Leeds.

📆 Running from 25 July to 30 August 2026, the free experience will see participants journey across the city centre answering questions and collecting wedges, just like the classic trivia game.

👉Key locations will represent the six traditional TRIVIAL PURSUIT categories. There will be classic and junior questions to ensure the experience appeals to all ages.

🚨 IMPORTANT UPDATE 🚨

Our new members event ‘𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗔𝗴𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗙𝗹𝗮𝗺𝗯𝗼𝘆𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲’: 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗘𝗱𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱𝗶𝗮𝗻 𝗕𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗟𝗲𝗲𝗱𝘀 𝗖𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗖𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗲 has been postponed due to extreme weather conditions.

With the temperature predicted to be 30 degrees or higher at 5.30 on Thursday, on health and comfort grounds it is not sensible to do the walk. We hope to re-arrange the walk at a more suitable date.

Antony Ramm is a Thoresby Society council member and Lectures Secretary. Antony is recognized as a Heritage Hero because of his work with Leeds Libraries where he is manager of the Heritage and Research Department. 👏👏

The Thoresby Society is very keen to meet its new members and for them to meet each other. To provide an opportunity to do this, our Patron, Dr Kevin Grady, has kindly agreed to leading this guided walk around Edwardian Leeds.

We had a lovely time yesterday at 𝑨𝒍𝒘𝒐𝒐𝒅𝒍𝒆𝒚 𝑪𝒐𝒎𝒎𝒖𝒏𝒊𝒕𝒚 𝑷𝒊𝒄𝒏𝒊𝒄 🧺 🧺

The sun was out 🌞, the band was playing 🎺🎵and the village green was full of people enjoying both 😃

So many of you paid us a visit to look at old photos 📸 maps 📜and books 📚about Alwoodley and Leeds.

We especially enjoyed all the canine visitors 🐶

We can't wait to return next year!

💙💚❤️ Did you know that June is Gypsy, Roma and Traveller History Month? 💙💚❤️

This photo comes from 'Gypsies & Travellers in their own words' edited by Peter Saunders, Jim Clarke, Sally Kendall, Anna Lee, Sakie Lee and Freda Matthews (2000).

It shows Jack Pattison and his wife Ellen with their daughters Caroline and Dianne with their Bill Wright's square topped wagon in 1926. The waggon was specially made for the Pattison family and featured a 'P' etched on the windows.
