LASSN is a registered charity set up in 1999. We help people in Leeds to welcome asylum seekers and refugees, and to help them make a home here

A huge thank you to COWTOWN, Objections, Territorial Gobbing, Brudenell Social Club, and everyone who came along, donated to the raffle and showed their support.

Together, you raised an incredible £1,136 (😱) for LASSN, helping us continue supporting people seeking asylum and refugees across Leeds.

Events like this are about so much more than fundraising. They bring people together, create connections, and demonstrate the strength of community solidarity. We are incredibly grateful to everyone who performed, organised, volunteered, donated, and attended.

A huge thank you to (Ancient Infinity Orchestra), Fergus Quill, the many talented musicians who shared their music, and everyone at Hyde Park Book Club for hosting a fantastic series of summer jazz concerts.

Thanks also to everyone who came along, donated and helped make the events such a success. Together, the concerts raised an incredible £1,141(!!!!!) 😮 in support of LASSN's work with people seeking asylum in Leeds.

It was particularly special to see some of our house residents attending alongside LASSN volunteers and staff, enjoying the music and connecting with the wider community.

To make friends. To volunteer. To join a conversation. To enjoy a film, a concert, or a theatre performance. To study for a driving test. To find work. To take part in democratic life. To learn a trade or study at university. To build community.
And much, much more.

Learning English extends far beyond the classroom. It's about building confidence, independence, and connections that help people thrive helping them rebuild their lives free from persecution.

For many people seeking asylum in Leeds, every bus journey involves this choice.

Money on an ASPEN card cannot be used contactlessly on the bus, while people
receiving Section 4 support cannot withdraw cash.

For people we work with, milestones like passing a driving test can open up new opportunities, making it easier to access work, education, services, and community life.

This milestone reflects their determination and hard work, alongside the encouragement and support of LASSN volunteers who help make these journeys possible.
