LASSN is a registered charity set up in 1999. We help people in Leeds to welcome asylum seekers and refugees, and to help them make a home here

💛 One conversation. One connection. A lasting difference.

Last year, 34 volunteers provided one-to-one mentoring, helping people navigate daily life, build confidence, and take positive next steps.

From understanding services and tackling everyday challenges to simply having someone to talk to, our volunteer mentors offer practical support and a friendly, consistent presence.

🌱 Together, we're helping people feel more connected, supported, and empowered to move forward.

🌱 When you're new to a city, finding the right support isn't always straightforward.

📍 Support services are spread across Leeds, with different organisations providing different kinds of help. Whether it's food, housing, immigration advice, clothing, social opportunities, employment support, wellbeing services, or simply information about what's available, people often need to connect with multiple organisations to find the support they need.

🤝 LASSN is one branch of a much wider support network. Working alongside our partners across the city, we help people seeking sanctuary navigate services, build connections, and access support as they rebuild their lives.

🌳 No single organisation can do it all, but together we can make a real difference.

Having a safe and secure place to call home is about so much more than housing. For refugees rebuilding their lives, stable housing provides the foundation to look ahead and create new opportunities.

With housing security, people can focus on:

❤️ Making friends
🩺 Looking after their health and wellbeing
👨‍👩‍👧 Building and strengthening relationships

A home offers stability, safety, and the chance to put down roots. It creates the space for people to grow in confidence, pursue goals, and become active members of their communities.
