10K: a useful conversion guide

10K is roughly:
Leeds Station to Roundhay Park, the length of 15,400 baguettes and the height of 2.500x the Black Prince statue City Square.
A lot of “nearly there” when you are not nearly there.

Many, many steps.
One very good excuse to ask people for money.

Our runners are taking on the Leeds 10K to raise funds for LASSN’s work with people seeking asylum and refugees in Leeds.

Meet Harry and Jake. They are two of 10 people running for LASSN.

Both have been training along the Leeds-Liverpool Canal — Harry on short runs, and Jake near where he lives in Kirkstall.

For Harry, the Leeds 10K will be a first:

“I wanted to run for LASSN to help support the important work they do in the local community, supporting people seeking asylum. I often do short runs down the canal, but this will be the first time I’ve run this far — and with anyone watching!”

Jake volunteers with LASSN, so he has seen first-hand the difference the work makes:

“I’m really proud to be fundraising for LASSN at Leeds 10K. I’m hoping we can help them keep on making such a difference. My favourite place to run is along the Leeds-Liverpool Canal, near where I live in Kirkstall.”

Meet Tina.

She is one of 10 people running for LASSN. She is running because she knows what a massive difference LASSN makes with every penny raised—helping to support people seeking asylum in Leeds.

After training with a Parkrun at Fountains Abbey, she is getting ready for the Leeds 10K, even if city streets are not her favourite compared to off‑road runs (especially when tea and cake are involved at the finish! 🍰🧁).
