The Lodge of Dawn 6511 A Leeds Freemasons Lodge who meet at Castle Grove, Headingley. If you want to find out more about becoming a Freemason in Leeds please visit our website.

Happy to answer any questions you might have about Freemasonry. New members always welcome. The Lodge of Dawn Masonic Lodge was founded on the 22nd of September 1947 and is a vibrant, well-established flourishing Leeds Freemasons Lodge, holding meetings on the 4th Tuesday of every month at Castle Grove Masonic Hall in Headingley, Leeds LS6. Most of our members come from Alwoodley, Moortown and the

surrounding areas. What do Freemasons do? Freemasonry at The Lodge of Dawn is a full mix of ceremony, social activities, charity fund-raising, supporting the community and much more…. How do I become a Freemason? Membership is open to any man over the age of 18, irrespective of their race or religion. The first step is to either ask a friend, neighbour, colleague or acquaintance who is a Freemason at The Lodge of Dawn to propose you. If you do not know anyone in The Lodge of Dawn, please contact us; we can still invite you to join. Once you have been proposed and accepted you will undertake a series of three ceremonies known as ‘degrees’, after which you are officially a Master Mason. These Freemason’s ceremonies explain a moral and charitable approach to life. If you have any further questions about becoming a Freemason watch our video at https://youtu.be/xj_ZvFg3x5U or visit our website at www.thelodgeofdawn.co.uk or email [email protected]

The Lodge of Dawn is very sad to hear of the passing of Jean Hersh, wife of Holocaust survivor Arek Hersh MBE.
Some years ago Jean and Arek accompanied us on a Lodge visit to the National Holocaust Museum where they gave us a presentation on the horrors of antisemitism in World War 2.
May her memory be a blessing.

This week we had a surprise visitor to The Lodge of Dawn 6511. Assistant Provincial Grand Master, Worshipful Brother Malcolm Whiteley, having demanded admission and accepting the gavel from Worshipful Master Dave Jackson, requested that Worshipful Brother Simon Fellerman, be brought to him.

Following a resume of Worshipful Brother Simon's Masonic career he promoted him, on behalf of the Provincial Grand Master, to Past Provincial Senior Grand Warden. A tremendous and well deserved honour.

Everybody here at the Lodge of Dawn 6511 congratulate W Bro Fellerman on his promotion.

'Meet a few of our Members' is a new page on our Lodge of Dawn 6511 website. We invite you to read a brief interview with individual members, why they have joined and what they are getting from their Masonic journey.

The idea is principally to encourage new candidates to apply, particularly when they see what great people we have amongst us. We also see it as a way of introducing ourselves to guests and visitors before arrival.

A big thank you to Eóin, Mark and Martin who have all taken part in this first page. The plan is for more to follow over the coming months.

We thought it would be useful to introduce you to a few of our younger members of the Lodge of Dawn. It will provide you with a little personal insight into who joins, why they join and what they get from being part of our Lodge of Dawn. We have three members for you to ... Read more

Our Annual 'excursion' this year was to Bristol. It took place over 2 days last week and involved a visit to The Jerusalem Lodge 686, at Freemasons’ Hall, Bristol.

The Lodge of Dawn 6511 would like to thank W Bro. Allan Badman and VW Bro. Tim Brunton PGSwdB, Deputy Provincial Grand Master, for such a warm welcome and insightful tour. All seventeen of us found it educational and enlightening. The Festive Board was great too and hope that our numbers added to the evenings celebrations.

As part of the two days we also visited Clifton Suspension Bridge and SS Great Britain - two fine examples of British engineering. Their creator, Isambard Kingdom Brunel, a Freemason himself, is in many ways the epitome of Freemasonry - science, belief and purpose.

Please read the article on our website for more details of the trip.

A Perfect Combination Of World Class Engineering, Freemasonry and Fraternity
