We support families who have one child under 7, or are expecting a baby. Our family support volunteers have visited thousands of children and families over the years helping improve family life. Our volunteers visit families in their homes once a week for 2-4 hours offering a listening ear, emotional support, guidance and some practical help. The challenges that families we support face range from
having poor mental health, to debt issues, to the ups and downs of having small children. At the heart of our support is volunteers building trusting relationships, and giving families time to share and talk to someone who will not judge them. Our volunteers come from all walks of life and reflect the diversity of the families we support. Our volunteers are parents or have experience of working with children. We offer excellent training and support and all volunteers are required to attend one of our free preparation courses, which are run through the day time or on an evening and are delivered by our highly skilled team of co-ordinators. Due to the impact of Covid-19 and government guidelines are service has changed slightly in order to still be able to offer our support. Meaning we have adapted our service to now offer support over the phone and via other IT platforms therefore allowing us as an organisation to remain operational despite lockdowns and restrictions.
