Incredible Edible Leeds

Incredible Edible Leeds Incredible Edible aims to create a kind, confident and more connected community through the power of food. If you eat, you're in!

Community is at the heart of everything we do. We bring people together through a shared love of food. We make connections and build on relationships. Learning doesn’t stop at the school gates. We work with schools, but we encourage life-long learning; whether it’s growing skills or not. We bring people together; we share knowledge and we’re better for it. We want to support a local economy. We su

pport local business and want others to do the same. We work with local companies to encourage people to buy more and make money sticky. What is spent local, stays local.

We thought you might like to see some news in your feed today that's about bringing communities together, not dividing them with hatred and fear.
We are so grateful to The National Lottery and National Lottery Players for awarding us some funds to continue and expand our vital work.
If you're new to us, we not only grow healthy food in unloved community spaces that's free for people in Leeds to eat, but we are inclusive of everyone - if you eat, you're in! Food is a great connector, growing outdoors is great for our mental and physical health and when we work together to solve problems, we learn about each other and bond. So don't despair. We're here for you. Get involved.

You may have seen mainstream or social media coverage about the manosphere or the the male loneliness epidemic and the impact that this disconnection is having on everyone in our society.

We create kind, confident and connected communities through the power of growing food. We inspire and engage local people within communities to come together and give growing a go, with an ‘if you eat, you’re in’ philosophy.

Food is a unifier, an equaliser, a common ground. Through food we connect, nourish, care and create together. This is valuable work.

We’ve established nearly 25 groups growing food across over 75 sites in Leeds with over 150 raised beds for growing, composting activities to raise awareness of food waste, plant and seed libraries as well as working with local schools to educate about food.

We are seeking support as a volunteer led, grass roots organisation, so we can help communities across the city to grow in more ways than one.

Incredible Edible Leeds is a simple concept - we seek out pieces of unloved land and grow food on it. That patch of grass in front of your GP surgery, a bit of car park behind a pub or a hill behind a leisure centre. They all have potential to become raised beds, seed libraries and community orchards. Get involved in the

We want to talk to you about something important - the English Devolution & Community Empowerment Bill. Angela Rayner and Baroness Taylor are sponsoring it and it intends to widen and deepen devolution across England, providing local Mayors with unprecedented powers to deliver growth and give communities stronger tools to shape their local areas. What this means for us, and why we're involved should be pretty obvious! But we thought we'd make sure you're aware of it because given everything that's going on in the world right now, it's understandably not getting much attention! But.. It's also related. Petrochemicals aren't all that comes through the straits of Hormuz. Fertiliser ingredients do too... farming is going to suffer and empowering communities to grow local food is going to be more needed than ever.

Is life feeling a little disconnected right now? Maybe even hopeless or overwhelming? One of the most powerful ways to connect to yourself and to others is to grow together as a community. And that's where we come in! We seek out pieces of unloved land and grow food on it for anyone to pick and eat. Come along to volunteer to water and w**d, come along and pick produce. Come grab some seeds or seedlings and grow on your windowsills. Come join us!

We're not going to lie, with the state of the world right now we're living in an age of collective cognitive dissonance. We can't claim that we can bring about world peace, but we can connect you to something real. Something safe. Our communities don't have to be fractured, we don't have to be as isolated as we are. Get offline and get to know your local community. Get your hands in the earth. Plant seeds, watch them grow, pick them, share them, eat them. When you do it side by side with others - that's how we grow too and it's definitely how fascism is fought.

In celebration of last week, the wonderful The Biskery filled our planters at Wellington Place, leeds with some extra edibles. When you start to look, you'll see our planters and raised beds ALL OVER LEEDS. Over 23 groups of volunteers are planting food that is completely free for you and your community to pick and eat. We're talking peas at police stations, lettuce at libraries, tomatoes at train stations, beans at but stops and much much more.

For Earth Day, The Biskery placed bespoke biscuits in a public edible garden in Leeds — a small act of kindness to help people rediscover their city.
