This week, we're highlighting the amazing Aly, who volunteers in our Community Café and Pantry.
Aly has been working alongside KVDT for the past 2 years, sustainably sourcing homemade meals for our service users as well as offering a friendly face for our Hub and Community Pantry.
Here is what Aly has to say!:
"I normally come down on a Wednesday and I am happy to do anything! So I either make a soup, baking or helping in the pantry, and it makes me feel good. One of the things I tend to do is look through the Hub fridge and use anything we can as well using what we can from the Pantry as well. We all work together - the Pantry and the Café - to make sure that stuff doesn't get thrown away, and if worst comes to worst, I take leftovers to my compost!
The hub is great place to come to each week due to not only the service users but also the staff and the other volunteers like myself. "

Our first Her Corner self-defence & fitness session last week was brilliant — and it was fantastic to see everyone getting involved, having fun and building confidence!

We’d love to see even more women join us this Thursday for the next session.

What a lovely day we had at Applefest at Kirkstall Valley Farm today! 🍎🌿

A lovely mix of children and adults came through the gates over the course of the day, but for us the real measure of success was seeing people having such a great time.

There was apple pressing, stalls, children’s activities, music, food, plenty of chatting and lots of people simply enjoying being at the Farm together.

It had exactly the atmosphere we hoped for — relaxed, friendly, welcoming and very community-focused.

A huge thank you to everyone who came along, to our brilliant traders and performers, and to all our amazing staff and volunteers who helped make the day happen.

Days like today are what Kirkstall Valley Farm is all about. ❤️🍏

We have more markets coming up on
24th October - for pumpkin carving 🎃

28th November - Our Christmas Market when a certain Mr Santa Claus will be with us.🎅

Apple Pressing

Got apples or pears? Bring them along and help turn them into delicious juice, c***r or perry. We'll have a scratter ready to chop and crush the fruit, plus pressing equipment to extract the juice. Plenty of apples will be available if you don't have your own.
