We're very proud of Rotarian John Hirst who is running the London Marathon this Sunday in aid of the Pahar Trust Nepal.

This will be John's 33rd marathon. He says it's his last, but we're not sure we believe him as we're pretty sure he said that last year too! He's aiming to raise £2,500 for the charity, which builds schools and health facilities in rural Nepal to improve the life chances of children, young people and their communities.

Our wine-tasting is played for laughs so will be lots of fun as well as hopefully raising lots of money for a very deserving Leeds sports charity. Your £25 ticket gets you a welcome drink, four different wines, and pizza and chips at the fabulous Bridge End Social who have generously given us their event space for the evening. in 2023 we were recovering from a brilliant trip to Portugal to visit our twin Rotary club of Oeiras, near Lisbon.

When you join Rotary you become part of an international community of people who are curious about the world and committed to making a difference in their communities. We support charities here in Leeds but we also love to get out and learn about other places.

What’s it really like to volunteer with our Let’s Read programme? 💚

“I can't put into words (ironically!) how much I value my hour reading with Year 3s each week. Each child has so much character, and they all have their own journey with reading…

Seeing them push through their frustrations, or make connections and figure things out with just a little input is amazing. I come away every week with a smile…

The Let's Read programme is supportive and seamlessly organised. I would recommend it to anyone who wants to give even a little of their time to children's education in the Leeds community.”
