🌺 Navratri – Day 2: Maa Brahmacharini 🌺

On the second day of Navratri, we worship Maa Brahmacharini, the embodiment of devotion, तपस्या (austerity), patience and inner strength.
🙏 Maa Brahmacharini reminds us of the power of unwavering faith, self-discipline and dedication. Through her deep penance and devotion to Lord Shiva, she teaches us that with perseverance, purity of heart and sincere devotion, we can overcome challenges and move towards spiritual growth.
May Maa Brahmacharini bless us with strength, peace, wisdom and the determination to walk the path of Dharma. 🪷
Jai Maa Brahmacharini! Jai Mata Di! 🙏🌸

🌺🙏 Day 1 of Navratri – Maa Shailputri is worshipped today 🙏🌺

The first day of Navratri is dedicated to Maa Shailputri, the first form of Maa Durga, symbolising strength, purity, devotion and the power of nature. 🌸
The name Shailputri means “Daughter of the Mountain.” She is depicted riding a divine bull, Nandi, holding a trident (Trishul) and a lotus in her hands. As the daughter of the Himalayas, she represents courage, stability and unwavering faith.
🪷 On this auspicious day, we seek Maa Shailputri’s blessings for a strong foundation in life, inner peace, good health and spiritual growth. May she guide us towards righteousness, fill our hearts with devotion and give us the strength to overcome every challenge.
Let us begin these nine sacred nights with a heart full of gratitude, faith and positivity. May Maa Durga bless everyone with happiness, prosperity and divine protection. ❤️🙏

🌺 शुभ नवरात्रि | Shubh Navratri 🌺
As we welcome the sacred nine nights of Navratri, may Maa Durga bless our Sanātana community with strength, wisdom, compassion and inner peace.
Navratri reminds us that the Divine Feminine — Shakti — represents the power within us to overcome darkness, face challenges with courage, and move forward with faith and dharma.
May these nine sacred nights inspire us to:
🙏 Choose Dharma over fear
🪔 Choose light over darkness
🌸 Choose compassion over judgement
💪 Find strength within ourselves
❤️ Support one another as one community
Let us celebrate not only with devotion, music and festivities, but also by carrying the spirit of Sevā, Karuṇā and Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam into our everyday lives.
May Maa Durga's divine Shakti guide every family, protect every home, and bring peace, health, happiness and prosperity to our community.
🌺 Jai Mata Di! 🌺

Lived Experiences Heard: Real Voices, Real Change (MH Theme for 2026)
Mental health is not something we should face in silence. Every person carries a story — of struggle, resilience, loss, hope, healing and strength. When we listen to lived experiences with compassion and without judgement, we create space for real change.
The wisdom of Sanātana Dharma reminds us of the importance of karuṇā (compassion), dayā (kindness) and recognising the dignity and inner self of every individual. True wellbeing is not only about the body; it is also about finding balance, peace and connection within ourselves and with one another.
The Bhagavad Gita reminds us:
“उद्धरेदात्मनात्मानं नात्मानमवसादयेत्।”
“Let a person lift themselves by their own self; let them not lower themselves.”
— Bhagavad Gita 6.5
This teaching can inspire us to remember that seeking support is not a weakness. Sometimes, lifting ourselves means reaching out, speaking honestly, allowing others to listen, or simply saying, “I am not okay today.” And sometimes, our role is to be the person who listens.
Let us build a community where every voice matters.
Where lived experiences are heard rather than hidden.
Where asking for help is met with compassion rather than judgement.
Where cultural and spiritual values become sources of strength, belonging and hope.
And where listening leads to meaningful action.
Real voices. Real stories. Real compassion. Real change.
This World Mental Health Day, let us listen — with an open heart, an open mind, and karuṇā.
No one should feel that they have to walk their journey alone.

🙏 Dhan Dhan Sri Guru Ram Das Ji — Subh Gurpurab! 🙏
On the sacred occasion of the Prakash Purab of Sri Guru Ram Das Ji, let us remember His teachings of humility, compassion, service, and devotion. This day marks the birth anniversary of the fourth Sikh Guru, Guru Ram Das, who founded the holy city of Amritsar.
May Guru Sahib bless us with peace, unity, good health, and Chardi Kala, and inspire us to serve others with love and selflessness.
May His blessings guide us towards a life of kindness, equality, and Naam Simran.

Three Years Since 7 October
On the third anniversary of the Hamas-led attacks of 7 October 2023, we remember with profound sorrow all those who lost their lives and stand in solidarity with their families and loved ones.
We honour their memory, share in the grief of those who continue to mourn, and hope for healing, peace, and an end to suffering for all those affected.

We remember the more than 1,200 innocent men, women and children murdered in Hamas’s terrorist attack, and the 251 people taken hostage.

Among them were at least 11 Hindus killed on 7 October- 10 Nepali Hindu students slain at Kibbutz Alumim, and Bipin Joshi, the only Hindu hostage, abducted that day and later confirmed dead in captivity.
We honour every life lost Jewish, Hindu, and all innocents caught in terror’s shadow. We stand with the victims and their families, and continue to hope for a world free from antisemitism, anti-Hindu hatred, and terrorism.

🕉️ Shanti 🙏🏼

Serving our communities, one meal at a time.

Every 3rd Saturday of the month, our Hindu community comes together in the spirit of Sewa (selfless service) to support the Bradford Curry Project and Homeless Hampers (Leeds), helping those facing hardship with a warm meal and kindness.

Bradford Hindu Council, together with Leeds Hindu Forum and its members, are coming together to support this initiative.

This Septembers’s food donation was generously sponsored by 2 families, one who celebrated their grandchild’s first birthday, and Sai and his family, both helped provide nutritious meal packs consisting of:🍛 curry and rice🥔 Crisps🥤 Drink🍫 Snack🍎 Fresh fruit

A heartfelt thank you to our Sewa & Community Lead, Dharmesh Mistry , supported by Dina Mistry and Sridhar Thanuku and his family, for coordinating the project and ensuring every donation reaches those who need it most.

🙏 Thank you to everyone who continues to support both initiatives. Every meal shared is a reminder that no one should face hardship alone.
If you would like to sponsor a future food donation, support a food bank, or donate food, clothing or other essential items, we’d love to hear from you.

📩 Please contact Dharmesh Mistry or email:[email protected]
Together, we can make a real difference.

Dharma upholds once again 🕉️
🙏 Captain Smit Machchhar – Courage, Dharma & Faith 🙏

Captain Smit Machchhar’s extraordinary courage has touched the hearts of millions. During the terrifying incident aboard a Flydubai flight, when the aircraft and its passengers were in grave danger, Captain Smit—despite being seriously injured—showed remarkable courage, presence of mind and determination.

With 174 lives at stake, he put the safety of his passengers before his own. His actions helped others enter the cockpit, stop the attacker and regain control of the aircraft, allowing the flight to land safely.

What makes his story even more deeply inspiring is that, in those moments of immense danger, Captain Smit said he kept reciting the Hanuman Chalisa. The prayer gave him inner strength, courage and calmness when he needed it most.

This is a powerful example of Dharma in action—having the courage to fulfil one’s duty, protect innocent lives and remain steadfast even in the face of fear.

🕉️ “संकट कटै मिटै सब पीरा, जो सुमिरै हनुमत बलबीरा।”

May Shri Hanumanji bless Captain Smit Machchhar with strength, healing and a long life. His courage reminds us that true bravery is not the absence of fear, but the strength to do one’s duty and protect others when it matters most.

🙏 Jai Shri Ram | Jai Bajrang Bali 🙏

🙏🪔 Pitru Paksha – A Time to Remember, Honour & Give Thanks and Gratitude to towards our loved ones🪔🙏
During Pitru Paksha, we pause to remember and honour our ancestors who came before us and whose love, sacrifices, values, and blessings have helped shape our lives.
May this sacred period remind us to be grateful for our roots, cherish our families, and carry forward the goodness, wisdom, traditions, and values passed down through generations. 🌿
Let us also extend kindness to others through charity, food donations, and acts of compassion, keeping alive the spirit of giving and remembrance.
May the souls of our departed ancestors find peace, and may their blessings continue to guide and protect our families and community. 🕊️🙏
