Our youngest delegation has set off to Tokai 🇯🇵 and wow what an experience that is going to be for our delegation of 11 year olds.

Spending a few weeks away with delegations from around the world 🌍 will introduce them to cultural understanding, global friendships and communication across borders.

It’s the time of year we’ve all been waiting for… our delegations are departing to their camps and the endless opportunities that come with them.

First to head off is our Step Up group who have gone to Cologne 🇩🇪

This programme is for 14-15 year olds and gives the children chance to take leading roles in planning and organising activities, around the camp theme which could be anything from identity, democracy to environmental protection.

We hope they have a fabulous time and we look forward to catching up with them when they return.

This summer we are very excited to be sending two delegations to Japan 🇯🇵

Our 11 year olds village delegation are heading to CISV 日本協会 東海支部 Tokai for 4 weeks, with opportunity to embed themselves in Japanese culture, whilst also meeting children from around the world gain a greater cultural understanding.

Our 13 year olds are heading to an International Youth Meeting for 2 weeks in Kansai. They will be learning about the local Japanese culture and discussing the theme of “Hamon” meaning ring of water, and how to deal with our own rings colliding with others.

The delegates have spent the year fundraising through different methods from mowing neighbours lawns, fish-sitting, to charity bingo sessions. We want to say a huge thank you to the Great Britain Sasakawa Foundation who have kindly provided us with a grant to support the delegations travel costs. This has helped ensure the trips are accessible to all, and we look forward to reporting back on the huge impact these trips will have on the kids, and British-Japanese cultural understanding.

What a fabulous afternoon at the Meanwood Tavern for the family bingo session.
We started off with Sophie giving an intro to CISV, then straight into the bingo where there were prizes galore (particularly for one table). 🍋
Much fun was had, and proceeds went towards the funding for the Japan trip. 🇯🇵

The Meanwood Tavern are hosting a family friendly bingo and pizza afternoon to raise funds to send one of our delegation of kids to Japan this summer. 🇯🇵

Doors open at 12 noon when the 🍕 will be available and the bingo kicks off at 2pm.

Want to volunteer with us this summer?

Fancy spending two weeks on an international summer camp in the North of England?

Our chapter CISV North East England are in need of one volunteer age 21+ to complete their camp staff team.

Dates:26th-9th August

Delegations attending: Austria, Bulgaria Great Britain, Japan, Mexico and two delegations from USA.

Cost to volunteer: none, accommodation, food, excursions activities and training is provided.

No experience is needed; the volunteer must be 21+ by the time of camp, full training provided.

CISV Leeds are sending their Year 8s on the Youth Meeting camp programme to Japan this year. We are fundraising to support this, and our next event is a family-friendly bingo and pizza session for the CISV family on Sunday 28th June.

Please join us for family-friendly bingo - all proceeds will be donated to CISV.

At a CISV Seminar Camp, young people take the lead—shaping their own discussions, activities, and solutions on topics like human rights, diversity, sustainability, and active citizenship.

As a volunteer, you will:

✨ Help young people develop leadership skills
