SHE’S A STAR ⭐

We’re so proud of our trustee Sheila Howarth , who has been chosen as one of 25 people being celebrated with a star The Light as part of its 25th anniversary celebrations.

Sheila has been part of Leeds’ community, arts and education scene for decades, giving her time, energy and passion to so many people along the way.

And now she has her very own star! We couldn’t be happier to see Sheila recognised in this special way.
Congratulations Sheila — thoroughly deserved. ❤️

We’re bringing Nice Up Part 3 to Hibiscus Rising this September – a free afternoon of music, poetry, creativity and community organised by Remember Oluwale and Music House, with support from the Breeze team.
Young people who took part in Music House workshops have used David Oluwale’s story and the idea of “leading the change” to create music exploring issues that matter to them. They’ll perform their work alongside special guest artists, musicians and poets, with stalls from the African market, food, craft activities, soft play and more throughout the afternoon. Join us to celebrate young talent, community and David’s legacy.
Please help us spread the word by sharing the flyer with friends, family and your networks – or volunteer to help us on the day.
📅 Sunday 20 September 2026, 12.30pm–4.30pm
📍 Hibiscus Rising, Aire Park, Meadow Lane, Leeds, LS11 5BJ
🎟️ Free – no need to book, just turn up!

This exciting 5-day creative project is bringing young people together to learn from industry trailblazers, develop their skills, create music and discover what’s possible when creativity, collaboration and experience come together. 🙌🏽🎤🎧

Lead the Change is all about giving young people the space, inspiration and connections to find their voice and take their next steps in music. 💜

A huge thank you to online and BBC Radio Leeds for having us and for the continued support💙

Tune into BBC Radio Leeds tomorrow at 7:35am.

We'll be talking about our new collaborative project withb and why this project means so much to us.

This is about creating space for young people to discover their creativity, build confidence, and explore where their talent could take them. More importantly, it's about connecting them with people who've walked the path before them - creative trailblazers with years of lived experience, knowledge and insight, who are passionate about passing that on to the next generation.

We believe the best way to inspire future creatives is by giving them access to those who've already broken barriers, built careers and are now ready to open doors for others.

We're excited to share more about the journey, the vision behind the project, and what's to come.

🎙️ Listen live on BBC Radio Leeds at 7:35am tomorrow - Thursday 6 August.

The line-up is locked in. 🔥

And honestly, we couldn't be more excited.🤗

Joining us at Be In The House is the incredible Faheem – a vocalist, songwriter and soul artist whose performances stay with you long after the final note. 🎶

When we reached out and explained what Music House is facing, his answer was simple: "I'm in."

That support means everything. ❤️

Get ready for an evening packed with outstanding live music, brilliant artists and a whole lot of love for Music House.

Faheem, we're so glad you're part of it.
