There are so many baby music classes out there, why come to mine?
2 words - REAL INSTRUMENTS! After having a baby in January 2020 I was planning all the different classes I wanted to go to with my daughter. I was getting ready to venture out and meet other new mums, bond with my daughter, and help her development when lockdown hit! Stuck at home I turned to what I had around me to keep her (and m
e!) entertained in-between the MANY walks around Kirkstall Abbey. As both myself and my husband were musicians, what I had was LOTS of musical instruments - and we had a lot of fun with them! As restrictions relaxed I was eager to head out to the classes I had missed out on, including the various music classes on offer. While they were fun I felt they missing something - a class leader with musical experience, and real instruments. After looking around the various franchise opportunities, it became clear that they were marketing to people with no musical experience which to me was an important part of what I would bring to a music class. So instead, I decided to set up my own classes where I could use my musical experience and knowledge to create a program with genuine benefits, and most importantly - real instruments. Times are tough right now but thanks to my degree in music, I can play a variety of instruments, from ukulele, to saxophone, bass, and keyboard. This means there isn’t the extra cost of paying different musicians to come in to each class, saving you a bundle on the class price. All that experience and knowledge I bring to class so you and your baby or toddler can have the opportunity to explore instruments they might not ordinarily get to see up close. An important part of my program is making sure that not only do the children get to have individual attention and time with the instruments, but you as a parent can have a chat and get to know other parents too. To facilitate this, in every class I spend time with every child so they can get up close to the instrument of the week. They can touch it, play it, hear it, and dribble on it! I keep my classes small, just 12 as a maximum, so this is the perfect time to get to know the people around you. So if you want something a bit more from your classes, come along to Rattle & Hum Music!
