Young Explorer Lily Inspires Lechlade Lions Following Costa Rica
Expedition
At our latest monthly meeting, the Lechlade & District Lions Club had the pleasure of welcoming Lily Sloman, who gave a presentation reflecting on her recent expedition
to Costa Rica with Camps International. Lily, accompanied by her father, attended the meeting to share the impact of her
journey- -one made possible in part by a Lions youth grant aimed at helping locall young people broaden their horizons, support community initiatives, and develop.
lifelong skills. Now stepping into sixth form at Farmor's School, Lily clearly made every moment of her travels count. Her time in Costa Rica was packed with meaningful community and environmental service. Alongside other volunteers, she rolled up her sleeves to rebuild retaining walls alongside rural roadways, freshened up local facilities by| cleaning classrooms, and brightened community spaces by painting tyres with local schoolchildren. Between the hard work and spending time playing with the children in the village, Lily also challenged herself beneath the waves, successfully qualifying
as a certified scuba diver. Members were thoroughly impressed by Lily's energy, maturity, and well-delivered talk. Seeing local youth channel support into tangible community aid and personal
growth is precisely why we invest in our community's next generation, and we wish!
Lily every success as she begins her A-level studies at Farmor's.
