Transform Housing and Support were delighted to host a stall at Farnham’s Wellbeing and Sustainability Event at Gostrey Meadows on Sunday 17th May 🌿

Alongside many other organisations promoting wellbeing and sustainability within the community, we showcased and sold a range of handmade products created by the talented clients from our Farnham Gardening Club.

The stall featured handcrafted and recycled wooden items including trellises, planters, insect boxes and bee hives, as well as handmade cards, worry worms, seedlings and much more. Visitors also enjoyed taking part in our “Find the Right House Key” game, which proved to be a huge hit throughout the day 🔑

We are incredibly proud to share that the Gardening Club clients raised approximately £300 during the event. The funds raised will go directly back into the club to purchase more materials, helping clients continue creating wonderful items for future events.

One colleague said:
“Our gardening club clients worked incredibly hard to produce these wonderful, high quality products, which were very well received by the public.”

Another added:
“Very rewarding to watch our clients take pleasure in seeing their handmade and homegrown items appreciated and purchased by members of the local community.” 💚

💚 This week is - a reminder of just how important it is to protect and prioritise our wellbeing every day 🌿✨

At Transform, we offer all colleagues a wellbeing day in addition to 28 days’ annual leave. This is a dedicated day that can be taken at a time of their choosing, giving them the opportunity to do something meaningful for their own wellbeing 💫

Colleagues have used their wellbeing days in different ways, from going to the theatre 🎭 or enjoying a cosy duvet day with hot chocolate and a favourite film ☕🍿, to attending a singing and wellness retreat 🎶. However they choose to spend it, the aim is to take time away from the busyness of everyday life and do something that recharges them 🔋.

Whether it’s rest, hobbies, time with others, or being active through sport 🏃‍♀️🏀, it’s about taking a moment to “refill their own cup”.

Would you like to work for an organisation that supports the wellbeing of its staff, as well as that of the vulnerable clients it supports? If so, view our current job vacancies at Transform here: https://careers.transformhousing.org.uk/career-opportunities

Being part of a community and spending time outdoors has such a positive impact on mental wellbeing, and the gardening group is a great example of this in action.

💚 This week is , and we’re sharing Ian’s inspiring story of how he overcame debilitating mental health challenges to rebuild his life and build a brighter future.

“I used to stay at home all the time, struggling with hoarding, anxiety, and depression. For most of my life, I didn’t like myself and had suicidal thoughts. But with the support of my keyworker at Transform, things began to change.

"With her help, I learned to leave the house, go shopping, use the bus, attend autism and support groups, and take better care of myself. My support worker even helped me tackle my hoarding and rebuild my home. I’ve gained confidence, independence, and hope for the future. With the right support, anything is possible. I never thought I’d be here today, sharing how far I’ve come.”

Ian is now a valued member of Transform’s Client Forum and is doing an incredible job contributing to improving the lives of other Transform clients. His journey is a powerful reminder that with the right support, people can achieve amazing things, even after facing significant mental health challenges.
