New research from CRY, presented at the British Cardiovascular Society (BCS) Conference 2026, highlights a vital message: heart disease doesn’t discriminate by s*x.
The nationwide study of almost 40,000 young women shows how cardiac screening can detect serious, often hidden conditions - even in those with no symptoms. In fact, 9% of those referred for further checks were diagnosed with conditions linked to sudden cardiac arrest. This reinforces why raising awareness and improving access to screening for young females is so important. Early detection truly can save lives.
