Cornwall Community Foundation

Cornwall Community Foundation Cornwall Community Foundation connects people who want to help Cornish communities, with grass roots projects that need their support.

Since 2003, we have awarded more than £16 million in more than 7,000 projects in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. In 2023 alone we awarded £2.9 million in grants. Generous individual and business donors invest in endowed and immediate impact funds, generating the resources to change lives. This enables us to assess and award targeted grants to the local grassroots community groups that need it most.

What a wonderful day at Newquay Orchard's annual Summer Fayre over the weekend! 🌞🌿

With sunshine, smiles and a fantastic community atmosphere, it was great to catch up with so many of our CCF funded groups, including Beach Guardian, Cscape Dance, Blystra Arts, Alma Artspace, Imagine Outdoors Together CIC, Swamp Circus and Cornwall Wildlife Trust.

A huge thank you to everyone involved in making the day so special. It was brilliant to see so many people coming together to celebrate the amazing work happening across Cornwall. 💛

We had a wonderful two days at the Royal Cornwall Show last week. Thank you to all our Friends, supporters and funded groups who stopped by to say hello – it was so lovely to catch up with so many of you.

A special thank you to Tregothnan for inviting us to be their charity partner for the 13th year running. Congratulations, too, on receiving the Duke of Cornwall Award, a truly well-deserved achievement. We are incredibly grateful for your continued support of CCF over the years.

Like many others, we were saddened by the cancellation of the final day. However, we completely support the decision, as the safety of everyone involved must always come first.

Despite the disappointment for many traders, what stood out most was the incredible community spirit shown across Cornwall. We saw local markets and food festivals opening up spaces for traders to come sell their produce at the last minute, customers queuing down the streets at shops (and even front gardens!) ready to purchase baked goods, and communities coming together to help ensure stock didn’t go to waste.

Moments like these remind us what Cornwall is all about – people supporting one another when it matters most. 💛

Thank you to everyone who made this year’s show so special. We already can’t wait for next year!

Meet the faces of the Foundation 💛

Amy Buzza-Blackwell (or Amy BB as she’s known around the office) has been Cornwall Community Foundation’s Philanthropy Director for over 5 years. A familiar face to a lot of you I'm sure.

We asked Amy a few questions to find out more about what she enjoys inside and outside of the office. We are all praying you hit your goal for the year Amy! 🤞

💛 Explain your role in one sentence:
Building connections between those who want to give back to Cornwall and those working to help people in need.

🌊 What is it you love most about Cornwall?
The pace of life and the sense of community that we have. I love visiting the hustle and bustle of London and busy cities, but adore the sense of calm that descends when I cross back over the Tamar.

🏖️ Favourite Cornish beach?
I love my early morning swims and family time at Gylly in Falmouth, my local, but I also always love the softer sand on the North Coast.

🎶 Outside of the office, what do you enjoy doing?
Looking after my little children, enjoying the coffee shops and evenings in Falmouth with my friends, and singing in a local choir.

😴 Goal for the end of the year?
To sleep through the night…!

🌟 Favourite thing about working for CCF?
The huge variety of people I get to speak to each day — from project participants to leaders in industry.

🎉 What’s the most rewarding moment you’ve had working here?
Our 2023 Gala Dinner where we raised over £220,000 in one night — such amazing generosity from so many people, which made a huge difference in the county.

💬 Favourite Cornish word or phrase?
“Teasy” — an especially great way to describe a grumpy teenager (which my mum frequently used about me in my younger years!).

An incredible project that we are delighted to have been able to fund from our Single Homelessness and Rough Sleepers fund thanks to Cornwall Council 💛

We’re over the moon to share that YMCA Cornwall has been awarded a £10,000 grant from Cornwall Council via the Cornwall Community Foundation.

This is the maximum available for non-partner organisations – a fantastic endorsement of our work.

The funding will support our Move On Bursary Fund, helping young people as they leave YMCA Cornwall and settle into their own homes. It will cover essential costs including rent support, travel for in-person visits, van hire for moving belongings, and providing basic furniture and white goods.

This support will make a real difference at a crucial stage in a young person’s journey.

Thank you to Cornwall Council and Cornwall Community Foundation for making this possible.

This Volunteers’ Week, we’re celebrating the incredible people who give their time, skills and compassion to support communities across Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.

Cornwall is home to a vibrant voluntary sector, with more than 140,000 volunteers contributing an estimated £490 million to our local economy (CCF Vital Signs 2025).

Volunteers bring hope, connection and support to those who need it most. They help community organisations thrive and provide services that, in some cases, save lives.

We are proud to support a huge range of organisations powered by volunteers.

To every volunteer, past and present, thank you. Your generosity, compassion and commitment make Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly a stronger, more resilient and kinder place for us all.

Pictured: Falmouth Food Co-op is building fairer, more sustainable food systems in Cornwall. Through their three linked projects listed below, they connect local growers with customers and offer jobs, training and volunteer roles to support the community.

FFC Grocery – connects customers with local agroecological producers.
FFC Loveland – an 8-acre community growing site in Penryn that offers volunteering, learning and food-growing opportunities.
FFC Kitchen – a community food project providing meals and volunteer opportunities.

Creating inclusive opportunities on the water people across Cornwall ⛵

We’re proud to support Wetwheels South West as they help people of all ages in Cornwall access barrier-free boating experiences that build confidence, independence and wellbeing. 🌊

Earlier this month, we joined David at WetWheels on a trip out of Falmouth harbour with a local school from the Truro area.

Research from Wetwheels shows that more than 80 per cent of participants have never previously experienced open water. By removing barriers and creating inclusive opportunities, the charity is helping people discover new independence, broaden aspirations and improve wellbeing.

Seeing the pure joy on the faces of the young people throughout the trip was a powerful reminder of the importance of accessible community experiences. These moments matter. Creating memories, building confidence and opening up opportunities that many young people may otherwise never have the chance to experience.
