Cornwall Community Foundation

Cornwall Community Foundation Cornwall Community Foundation connects people who want to help Cornish communities, with grass roots projects that need their support.

Since 2003, we have awarded more than £16 million in more than 7,000 projects in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. In 2023 alone we awarded £2.9 million in grants. Generous individual and business donors invest in endowed and immediate impact funds, generating the resources to change lives. This enables us to assess and award targeted grants to the local grassroots community groups that need it most.

Creating inclusive opportunities on the water people across Cornwall ⛵

We’re proud to support Wetwheels South West as they help people of all ages in Cornwall access barrier-free boating experiences that build confidence, independence and wellbeing. 🌊

Earlier this month, we joined David at WetWheels on a trip out of Falmouth harbour with a local school from the Truro area.

Research from Wetwheels shows that more than 80 per cent of participants have never previously experienced open water. By removing barriers and creating inclusive opportunities, the charity is helping people discover new independence, broaden aspirations and improve wellbeing.

Seeing the pure joy on the faces of the young people throughout the trip was a powerful reminder of the importance of accessible community experiences. These moments matter. Creating memories, building confidence and opening up opportunities that many young people may otherwise never have the chance to experience.

Meet the faces of the Foundation 💛

First up, I'd like to introduce you to our new Community Outreach Officer - Jenny!
We asked Jenny a few questions to learn more about what she enjoys inside and outside of the office 👇

🤝 Explain your role in one sentence: Helping Cornish community groups, especially those who are under-represented, feel more confident accessing funding, growing their impact, and building stronger connections
💛 Favourite thing about working for CCF: Everyone genuinely cares about what we do and each other.
🌿 Loves most about Cornwall: the Coast Path and its incredible wildlife
🏖 Favourite beaches: Tregantle at Whitsand Bay when the tide is out & Sennen Cove
📸 Outside of work: You’ll find me walking, doing yoga, watching films, playing music, and photographing rusty things!
🌍 Goal for this year: To keep learning new languages
✨ Most rewarding moment: Seeing the results of CCF funding in action and the diversity of the groups we support - from community growing spaces to therapeutic sea swimming and everything in between.
💬 Favourite Cornish phrase: “Splann!”

Mental Health Awareness Week is a reminder that behind every statistic is a person, a family, and a community.

In Cornwall, the su***de rate stands at 15.6 deaths per 100,000 people, compared with 10.7 across England and Wales - nearly 46% higher than the national average. This is more than a statistic; it reflects the urgent need for greater mental health support, connection, and early intervention across our communities.

That’s why we are incredibly proud to support so many amazing charities and organisations across Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly that work tirelessly to reduce su***de, provide crisis support, tackle isolation, and ensure people know they are not alone. Their work saves lives every single day.

Mental health matters to all of us. By raising awareness, supporting your local communities, and encouraging open conversations, we can help create a Cornwall where everyone feels seen, supported, and able to reach out for help when they need it.

We’re incredibly proud to support the next generation through our Young and Talented Cornwall Fund 🌟

Across Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly, we’re seeing inspiring young people step forward with creativity, determination, and passion. Whether in the arts, sport, dance, photography, and so much more, their talent and drive are shaping a bright future for Cornwall, and it’s a privilege to play a small part in their journey.

From coastal towns to rural communities, this young talent is proving that opportunity, when supported, can go a long way.

Thank you to everyone who continues to champion and invest in our young people, we can’t wait to see what they achieve next.

Thank you to everyone who joined us at Pentillie Castle and Estate’s Charity Open Day earlier this month – together you helped raise a fantastic £1,506 for CCF. ☀️🌺👏

Sammie Coryton, Owner of Pentillie Castle & Estate, said:

“We were absolutely thrilled to open our Spring gardens in aid o f the Cornwall Community Foundation — and what a wonderful afternoon it turned out to be!

The CCF does such incredible work supporting the lives of so many people across Cornwall, yet it’s surprisingly little-known here in SE Cornwall, so hosting our April Garden Open Day for the CCF felt like the perfect opportunity to change that — whether you’re someone who might benefit from their support, or someone looking for a meaningful cause to get behind.

The highlight for us was definitely the live music from Livewire — a youth music project that the CCF has previously funded. Their young performers were brilliant, filling the terraces with music all afternoon and reminding everyone exactly why this kind of funding matters.

Here’s to many more sunny afternoons, and causes worth celebrating!”

Thank you to everyone who joined us, to Livewire Youth Music Project for performing, and of course to Pentillie Estate for their generosity in choosing us as their worthy charity. 💛
