Launceston Camera Club

Launceston Camera Club Our club was formed in 1976 with a membership of 12 and over recent years we have had around 35 memb We meet every Tuesday evening from 7.15 pm. All are welcome.

From September to April at The Community Hall, Tregadillett, Launceston. Through the Summer months we organise monthly evening outings to various places. The club has an annual subscription and a small weekly fee to cover hall charges etc but your first two visits are free. Come along, see what we do and have a chat over a cup of tea after your first meeting. The meetings take various forms. We ha

ve guest speakers who give us an insight into their own photography and techniques. We run mini 'have a go' workshops with perhaps four or five club members showing others various aspects of their own work and how it is achieved in an informal 'walk-about' setup. On other evenings we may watch our internal competition images being judged. The competition subjects regularly include Portraiture, Natural History, Just Monochrome, a couple of Open Competitions, where anything goes and two themed competitions. A couple of the recent themes were “Togetherness” and “Creative”. We hold several competitions each year. Some are between our own club members. Some are between our club and other clubs and others may be regional or national competitions. All competitions would normally be judged by someone not connected to the club. Most photographers present their competition images in digital format for competitions but there are categories for colour and mono prints too. Prints or digital images to be judged are usually handed in about a fortnight before the results are announced, when an appraisal of every image entered will be given. Constructive and helpful criticism helps all of us of every ability to hone our skills. Our club is a member of The Cornwall Photographic Alliance, the Western Counties Photographic Federation and the Photographic Alliance of Great Britain.
