As we continue the countdown to World Mental Health Day on 10th October, our good friend Brian Neilly Music continues to use his music and these daily videos to raise awareness of mental health, trauma and PTSD.

Today’s message focuses on accident survivors.

Surviving a serious accident can change a person’s life in an instant. The physical injuries may heal, but the psychological impact can remain long after the event itself.

Flashbacks, anxiety, fear, disturbed sleep, guilt, anger or feeling constantly on edge can all be part of living with trauma after an accident. For some, these experiences can develop into PTSD.

Recovery is not always just about what can be seen.

Through his music, including “Find My Light Again”, Brian is encouraging people to recognise the hidden impact of trauma and to understand that seeking help is a sign of strength, not weakness.

At Who Dares Cares, we know that trauma can affect anyone, at any time, and for many different reasons. What matters is that people know support is available and that they do not have to deal with the aftermath alone.

If you have survived a serious accident and are struggling with what happened, please speak to someone. And if you know someone who has been through a traumatic experience, check in on them — even if the accident happened a long time ago.

Surviving the event is only part of the journey. You don’t have to struggle alone.
