🏠We're moving!! 🏠

We are really excited to announce that the Langholm Initiative will shortly be moving offices after purchasing the former Bank of Scotland building on Langholm High Street.

After being based in rented premises in Buccleuch Mills for a very long time, when this more central space came up it was the perfect opportunity to be more accessibly located in the town.

The ground floor will be purchased and used as office space and are hoping to also move the visitor information hub which is currently located in the Kilngreen kiosk into the new premises too.

We hope that more people will be able to pop in and visit us on the High Street having better access to information about Tarras Valley and visiting our wonderful area.

We have a bit of decorating and sprucing up to do within the old bank after it was vacated a year ago, but we are hoping to be moving very soon. 🔨📦

We also found some unexpected new residents at the building that have made the new office a temporary home!! 🐦‍⬛

We attended the SCOTO Gathering 2026 in Glasgow on 5th & 6th March and had an amazing time.
We heard various speakers, both national and international, talk about different case studies.
Community Tourism Learning Exchanges were attended at The Hidden Gardens, The Wee Retreat and the Citizens Theatre. On the Friday morning, we went on an Invisible Cities Tour, which was most enjoyable and informative.
So good to hear everything about community tourism in action. A great time was had by all.
Many thanks SCOTO and to all the learning exchange sites we visited.

We're delighted to have been recently awarded a grant from the Scottish land Fund towards the purchase of Broomholmshiels Cottage from Buccleuch. The property purchase was also helped along by some very generous donations, a huge thankyou to everyone that helped to make this happen!

The cottage which officially transferred over to us in November, will remain the home of the existing tenant for as long as he wants to live there. Should this situation change in the future, we will review all possible options as to how the property will be used. Purchasing this property at such an important entrance to the reserve and bringing into community hands as part of Tarras Valley was an opportunity too good for us to miss!
