Urszula Kasza - What inspired me to paint.
I had a stroke when I was 32 years old and attended Roman's Rehabilitation Centre in Worthing.
I was introduced to art and started my recovery slowly by paint my left hand, right hand very weak, my other side suffered paralysis.
I found painting relaxing, therapeutic and helped me reduce my stress.
I painted my pink rose with oils and acrylics paints.
I find painting inspiring and it gives me motivation.
A classic bloom in striking contrast.
This elegant rose glows against a dark backdrop, highlighting every soft petal and brushstroke — a timeless study in colour and light.

Nathalie Griffiths - The tangle and bloom
I’m inspired by the quiet possibility that comes when I create something from a blank page, letting ideas unfold without pressure or expectation. Nature is often the spark—its colours, rhythms, and small, fleeting details remind me how important it is to capture a moment before it slips away. The process itself is both calming and deeply therapeutic, a way of slowing down long enough to notice what usually goes unseen, and shaping it into something meaningful.

Landscaping work has started at Homefield Park this week to create a new planted area with sustainable drainage that will help prevent flooding.

We completed work on the new playground at Homefield Park earlier this year - moving it from its former spot, which regularly flooded during heavy rain.

The former playground site was left to settle for a few months and groundworks are now being carried out by contractor Edburton, before grass seed is planted. Edburton is carrying out the work for free as part of its social value commitment to the town, stemming from its work at Montague Gardens.

A rain garden will be created to take advantage of the natural rainwater capture in this area, as well as provide attractive planting and increased biodiversity.

New shrubs and plants are being sourced locally from Highdown Gardens and One Garden in Stanmer Park, Brighton, and will be planted this autumn.
