POPS would like to advise visitors that on Tuesday 4th November the visits hall Tea bar will be closed for both visit sessions. Goody bag purchases can still be made but the transaction will be handled from the visit centre. If you would like to purchase a goody bag on Tuesday please ask a member of the POPS team. We apologise for any inconvenience this causes.

POPS would like to advise any visitors looking to book visits via the online booking system, to do so before 12 noon on Fridays, for the Tuesday/Wednesday afternoon visits of the following week.

The system has a strict 48 hour notice and any booking requests coming in after 12 noon on Fridays will not be processed till Monday morning at which point the Tuesday and Wednesday visits will not be available.

Maintaining family ties and links with significant others are an essential part of supporting change. Cumbria and Lancashire prisons are keen to work with the families and friends to listen to you on how they can improve our facilities and services.

POPS has always stood for families – and our refreshed identity and new website are here to reflect that more clearly than ever.

Over the coming weeks, you’ll start to see our new look across our website, leaflets, social media and in our visitor centres. Please know that while our appearance is changing, the heart of what we do remains the same. We are still here to support you and your family, just as we always have.

Our rebrand is about making it easier for families to feel connected, informed, and supported. It honours our history while showing the breadth of what we do today—supporting families both inside and outside the justice system, creating spaces where lived experience is heard, and making sure families feel valued and empowered.

We have been absolutely spoiled by the Mothers Union who donated 38 Easter Eggs for children attending our Easter family day and for prizes! Accompanied by sooooo much chocolate which we will use for colouring competitions 🐰🌷🌼 Our thanks to the Mothers Union for their continued support and generosity!
