FoodFutures: North Lancashire FoodFutures: North Lancashire's Sustainable Food Network - working toward our vision of "a thriving local food system that is healthy, resilient and fair".

FoodFutures is North Lancashire’s award winning Sustainable Food Place initiative. It is made up of representatives from the local farming community, local food businesses, the public sector, Lancaster City Council, NGOs, community food groups and our local academic institutions. This partnership of people from across North Lancashire’s food system are working together to create “A thriving local

food system that is healthy, resilient and fair”. The core coordination function of the partnership currently lies with LESS (Lancaster District) CIC.

🌍 🌤️ 🌱🐛 The Closing Loops team will be at More Music's Three Degrees Festival on Saturday 27 June 12 noon to 5pm in Morecambe's West End.

Explore fun composting activities and other ways you can reduce waste, save resources and built a better world together, right where we live.

Join this vibrant, free community festival for a day of music, creativity and climate action. The festival shows how small connected actions by all of us can ripple outwards to make a meaningful difference.

Produced with young people from More Music's Eco Collective, there will be live music, spoken word, arts and crafts, fun creative workshops for all and much more! 🎶🌍 🌤️

There will be two free screenings of the film The People's Emergency Briefing in Lancaster and Halton tomorrow evening, June 11.
The films will be followed by community discussions.
If you care about local flooding, air pollution, the cost of living and food prices, you might want to catch it...
The film is led by sustainability expert and Lancaster University Professor Mike Berners-Lee and features Chris Packham, leading climate and nature scientists, a former general and Jennifer Saunders - all being pretty frank about where things are heading and what can be done about it.

🌱 Are you tired of poor quality, shop bought compost and want to avoid unsustainable peat composts? Are you keen to make your own compost, but aren't sure where to start? 🌱

The Closing Loops team will run composting stall at a few upcoming festivals:
🍓 Lancaster's Midsummer Market on 12 June, 10am-4.30pm
🌿 Wild Roots Nature Fest at Freeman's Wood on 13 June, 10am-3.30pm
🌏 3 Degrees Festival at More Music on 27 June from 12 noon

Drop by, bring your questions and get inspired to start your composting journey. Or get help in troubleshooting your existing compost pile!

Wild Roots Nature Fest kicks off tonight at the Gregson with a Secret Cinema screening. And then from tomorrow, there will be workshops, walks & family-friendly activities in some of Lancaster's loveliest greenspaces.

Take a look at the programme and book your place for example for tomorrow at the Storey Gardens with a voice activation workshop, a talk & tour about the history of the gardens, and nature folklore. Sunday will be a packed day of activities at Claver Hill community farm, and next week there'll be plenty more on at places like Freeman's Wood, Fairfield Nature Reserve, Quay Meadows and of course the Midsummer Market on Friday.
