Two Weddings and a Baby! ❤️🤍💙

Sounds like the title of a film, doesn't it? 🤣

Last night was our monthly Community Comic Con CIC Committee Meeting and as usual, there was plenty to talk about!

We covered all the usual business, including:

📝 Actions from our previous meeting and progress made.
🏟️ Where we're up to with Blackpool Community Comic Co 2027.
💰 Funding applications and fundraising.
🎪 Which events our Outreach Team are booked into and all the exciting activities they've got planned.
🎙️ How our Comic Con Community Podcast continues to grow, with guests now fully booked until the middle of December!

And plenty more besides 🤯

But what makes Community Comic Con CIC truly special isn't just the events we organise or the projects we deliver. It's the amazing group of people we've brought together 🫶

As our meeting was coming to an end, the conversation turned to something a little different...

🎃 Wedding Number One!

Our committee members Chris and Kim are getting married THIS MONTH and what better time for a wedding than Halloween when the bride-to-be is our very own Queen of Horror! 👑🔪

For those who don't know, Kim and Chris are the fantastic duo behind Distant Screams Events Ltd and the Horror Zone at our Comic Con events. So a Halloween wedding couldn't be more fitting for these two 🖤

🧜‍♀️ Wedding Number Two!

Two more of our committee members, Eva (our wonderful Mermaid Muriel 🧜‍♀️) and Tony (our brilliant DJ at DJ THME TonyH Music And Events 🎧), are also getting married... AGAIN!

Their first wedding had to be rushed because of Army commitments, so this time they're doing things exactly how they want 🙂

And in true Comic Con style, they're having a COSPLAY WEDDING! 🦸‍♂️🧚‍♀️

That's right! The bride, groom and ALL their guests will be dressed in cosplay! How absolutely brilliant is that?! 🤩

🦖 AND A BABY!

Just as our meeting was wrapping up, Ranger Mike's Baby Dinosaurs made a very special announcement on social media...

HE'S HAVING A BABY!!! 👶❤️

And no, before anyone asks, it's not another baby dinosaur 🦕

An actual little human baby is on the way 👶

A massive congratulations to Ranger Mike and Ranger Kayleigh. We're absolutely delighted for you both🥰

When we first started Community Comic Con CIC, our aim was to bring people together through a shared love of comics, cosplay, gaming and all things pop culture.

What we never expected was just how many amazing friendships would develop along the way.

We're a 100% volunteer-led organisation, and everyone gives up their own time to help make what we do possible. But we're so much more than just a group of people organising events and projects.

We support each other, celebrate each other's achievements, share plenty of laughs and genuinely care about one another.

Community Comic Con CIC really is one big happy family and last night's meeting was a lovely reminder of that! 🫶

Comic Con Community Spotlight: Blackpool author Ashley R Lister 🌟

Ashley is a prolific writer of genre fiction, with more than 60 full-length books and over 100 short stories to his name. He has also written articles, academic papers and poetry ✍️

He’s the author of How to Write Short Stories and Get Them Published, a five-star writing guide praised as “A must have for anyone serious about publishing their short stories” ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

But Ashley’s favourite review? “A very handsome book by a very handsome author.” 😄

Alongside his writing, Ashley holds a PhD in Creative Writing, lectures in English Language and Creative Writing and regularly blogs about poetry and writing 🧑‍💻

We’re delighted to shine a spotlight on a local author with such an impressive body of work 🫶
