** Carluke High School YPI - £3,000 Grant Awarded to Care & Repair in Lanarkshire **
Three pupils from Carluke High School - Grace, Hollie and Chloe -contacted us in December 2025 and asked if we would be their nominated Charity for their Youth Philanthropy Initiative (YPI) project.
We were delighted to participate in this competition and worked with Grace, Hollie and Chloe to ensure they had a good understanding of the work carried out by Care and Repair in Lanarkshire.
The project they chose to highlight was the Safe as Houses Home Security (Domestic Abuse) project. This project works with Women’s Aid, Victim Support and other organisations to help victims of domestic abuse to continue to live in their own home in a safe and secure manner. This free project assists clients by carrying out a home security survey, offering security advice, and installing security devices such as door and window impact devices, door viewers, door wedges etc.
Grace, Hollie and Chloe visited our Office on Hope Street in Lanark and were shown around by Carly and Ginette – they left with a pile of Care and Repair leaflets and a better understanding of what we do.
We also provided T-shirts for use during their presentation.
We were invited to attend Carluke High School on Monday 11 May to see the presentations and meet the other charities represented by the Carluke High School pupils.
All of the pupils gave very professional presentations in front of a panel of judges and an audience of parents, charities and teachers. The use of different techniques such as film, audio, Powerpoint, games, quizzes as well as verbal presentations were used to showcase the chosen charities.
The result was that Grace, Hollie and Chloe came in first place and won the £3,000 prize which will be passed on to Care and Repair in Lanarkshire to purchase security equipment to support the domestic abuse project.
It was a shame that there had to be a winner (but we are glad it was us🙂)! The other presentations were super and the charities represented were all very deserving of the prize as well.
More information on the YPI final is also on Carluke High School's website.
