Lanark Listen and Laugh Cafe ...

Sometimes it can feel like we are not listened to.

Sometimes we feel we have no-one to talk to.

Sometimes, when we live on our own, we have no-one to hear our voice.

Sometimes when we have young children we long for adult conversation.

Come for a coffee. Sit on your own. Join with others. Bring your friends. Meet new people. Share your wisdom. Laugh together. Get support from one another. Give support to one another.

The cafe grew from a realisation that sometimes we all need someone to listen to us. For those who live alone, hearing someone speak your name can be really important. When we go through difficult times in our life (and we all do, don't let anybody tell you differently) we need someone to listen to us, and laugh with us when we are able. When we spend our day with babies and toddlers, no matter how much we love them we just want to talk about real life things rather than CBeebies.

So we created the Lanark Listen & Laugh Cafe. It is for you. We have people to make the coffee and tea (and it’s good coffee and tea), serve the biscuits, and spend time with you. It’s organised by Greyfriars Parish Church but it isn’t religious ... it’s simply a cafe ... a community.

We would love you to come along and experience our cafe. Bring a friend (even your toddler, as we have activities, books and toys for them too), or come alone. Sit with others, or sit on your own. Someone will always be there to welcome you, listen to you ... and hear from you.

We want you to be a part of the cafe ... to help others to speak and listen, and to speak and listen yourself ... oh, and laugh ... we all must remember to laugh!
