Once again we’ve been blown away by the applications for Gig In The Grounds. The quality of all the applicants makes our festival organisers jobs so much more difficult.
We’ve started to get our shortlist together and we’ll be contacting acts over the next week or so.

It’s still not too late to apply though!!

The festival runs from Friday 31st July - Sunday 2nd August

Sets range in length from 30 mins to 1hr/1hr 15

All acts of any genre welcome to apply

Full PA system with backline provided, with sound engineers to help set up on the day

We are a charity so have limited budget - we have funding to cover expenses for bands

All of us here at Douglasdale REAL Group are delighted to see a happy ending for this wee fella who was abandoned and found near Stable Lake. Thank you so very much to the One Hop Shop and Baby Blue Bee Bunnies for all their hard work over the weekend to make sure he’ll go on to lead his best life with new friends 🐢🐢🐢

Despite a very difficult week last week, we have some good news to share with you all. 😊

The Terrapin that was handed in last week has arrived at his sanctuary home. 🙌

We spoke with many turtle experts and sadly had it confirmed he was a Yellow Bellied, which in the UK means they cannot be rehomed and have to be euthanised unless you have a license. There are few places that hold this license to take them.

A massive thanks to South Yorkshire Terrapin & Tortoise Rescue who assisted us with advice in providing him temporary care and a forever home and to our family who drove him down to his new home yesterday. What a great life he will have now! 🐢

Appealing for information ⚠️

This large terrapin was found this morning down Stable Lake, Douglas by Douglasdale Real Group
And thankfully brought to us at One Hop Shop

We presume he has been dumped as is common when pet Turtles get big and are no longer wanted.

The problem with this is:
1) It is illegal releasing these under the Wildlife and Countryside Act;
2) They are an invasive species and highly detrimental to native wildlife.

Please do not do this! 🚫

Instead, if you seek assistance rehoming an exotic animal, contact a rescue for help. We have a guide book at the shop containing rescue contact details and resources for help with every species in Scotland. Do not put both the animal and local wildlife in danger. ❌️ There is no excuse to dump an animal. ⛔️
