🌻 'You've made such a big difference to my day'

πŸ‘₯ 'Thanks for always checking in on me'

Just a couple of the wonderful messages that our befrienders received over the wintry spell at the beginning of this year.

We are continuing to grow our befriending service throughout the Melness-Tongue-Skerray-Bettyhill community and would love more volunteers who could spare just one hour, once a week or once a fortnight.

You will have fabulous peer support from our other befrienders and all travel expenses are paid.

β˜•οΈ Perhaps you, a member of your family or a neighbour would enjoy the company of one of our befrienders?

Then please do get in touch, in confidence, to find out more

We look forward to hearing from you!

Tea, Treasures & Togetherness: Celebrating Befriending Week πŸ’–

Charlotte from Arts in Nature was delighted to be asked to join North Coast Connection and Highland Hospice North Coast Helping Hands to host a creative workshop at the Kyle Centre in Tongue on Saturday.

Charlotte says 'to mark Befriending Week, we gathered for a warm and welcoming afternoon of culture, conversation and creativity. We chatted about the Befriending service, enjoyed a relaxing cuppa and created beautiful mixed media collages.

We were also privileged to explore the fascinating mobile museum and suitcase exhibits from Strathnaver Museum. These inspired our creative collages which focused on what we might pack in our suitcases if we were leaving our homeland, focusing on meaningful items we’d take to remember our homes and landscapes. Some participants also brought along cherished personal objects and shared the stories behind them.'

'It was such a lovely afternoon ✨ Huge thanks to everyone who came along; to Marion for inviting me; Strathnaver Museum for the inspirational and insightful artefacts and to Lochcarron of Scotland for providing us with beautiful tartan and tweed off-cuts for our suitcase collages.'
