𝘉𝘰𝘯 𝘢𝘯𝘯𝘪𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘢𝘪𝘳𝘦....to us! 🥳

We recently celebrated 𝟕𝟓 𝐲𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐬 as one of the longest-running French conversation groups in the northwest! And to celebrate, we returned (as we do every year, 𝘮𝘢𝘪𝘴 𝘰𝘶𝘪!) to the elegant La Boheme, Lymm restaurant, where chef and owner, Olivier Troalen, congratulated our group.

Founded in 1951, our social conversation group started life in Hartford, Cheshire at the Vicarage. Over the years, membership expanded to Knutsford, Altrincham and beyond, so the group updated our name to the Knutsford-Hartford French Circle.

Our committee offer a varied programme of topics and social events, fortnightly on Monday evenings. For those who love 𝐅𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐡 𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐮𝐚𝐠𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐜𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 and want to know more, email us at [email protected]

Incredible that our French conversation group has been going for nearly 75 years in Cheshire!

We just donated our minutes books dating back to 1951 to Cheshire Archives. The group was founded in that year by two ladies, with meetings taking place at the Vicarage in Hartford.

Olympic fever hitting you yet?... Or should we say, 'La fièvre olympique vous frappe déjà ?'...

We are really proud that one of our members is a volunteer at the . He is driving officials to various locations with the help of an electric car. These summer games have been planned to be the most eco-friendly Olympics that we have known and it all kicks off this Friday July 26th.

We have just donated a total of nine minute books and folders to Cheshire Archives. These meeting books date back to 1951 - the year our group was founded!

They contain a snapshot of how times and technology have changed, as well as the historic events of the day that captured members’ attention.

It is a privilege for us to make the records available to the public. Any Francophile will enjoy dipping into the social history of France as they read the varied subjects of our group's nearly 75 year history.

The Cheshire Archives will close in August in preparation for a move to two newly-built sites in Chester and Crewe. Their collection is expected to be available to the public from the winter of 2025-26.
