Tim was first diagnosed with cancer at 36, was successfully treated with radiotherapy and surgery, and he carried on with characteristic positivity. A recurrence in 2012 required chemotherapy, which he faced head-on, continuing to work and lead, even through treatment.
In 2014, he was diagnosed with advanced melanoma and given a life expectancy of around six months. Undeterred, Tim approached this battle as he did everything in life: with determination, humour, and curiosity. He underwent surgery, researched his condition deeply, and committed to improving his health through diet, lifestyle, and emerging treatments.
As new immunotherapy drugs developed, Tim focused on staying strong enough to benefit from them. He embraced strict dietary regimens, meditation, and clinical trials, all while continuing to work and support those around him. Despite severe side effects, including significant lung damage, he remained engaged in life, business, and family.
Though the treatment showed some promise, his strength declined. In his final days, he acknowledged the uncertainty ahead with quiet realism. On April 30th 2016, two and a half years after his diagnosis, Tim passed away peacefully.
His journey was marked by courage, resilience, and an unwavering forward-looking spirit—an inspiration to all who knew him.
Every journey is unique and tells its own story. This was Tim’s. Having witnessed it close at hand it was how Tim lived his life, courageous and inspirational and he epitomises the mission of the charity that bears his name - to live well with cancer.
