You are all wonderful. 💃🏻🩰🪩👯♀️
We have to realise that a big stage with a big audience, big noises and lots to remember is OVERWHELMING for most of us even as adults. (How many of you have rehearsed a 5 minute presentation about boring things that’s to be delivered to 8 folk sitting round a table before? Uh huh… you’ve been there)
Our little school is not about competitions, it’s not about pushing to the point that you break. It’s not about pressure.
It’s about making lives better for having a crack at performing arts, growing a culture where it’s enjoyed and appreciated to the point that they just can’t imagine a life without it… and this was an important day for every girl on and off that stage who are part of our community. They’re all a part of our big team.
I always say the magic in performance isn’t actually the steps or the sounds or the costumes or the lights- it’s the energy in the interactions all of that creates.
It lives in the space between people- when a performer smiles at the audience and gets a smile back. It does something for that moment to the air in the room and we all feel it.
Yeah, we teach them how to achieve it, but it only exists in the moment, and we want everybody to be able to feel that moment.
Performers have the emotion of a room in the palms of their hands, and that’s a magic we want all of our students to know: your wee hands are capable of huge meaningful things. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
