Golf has been played in Burntisland for centuries, although there was strong evidence that golf was played before 1797 Burntisland Golf Club agreed that this was the date of inception. The โ€˜Old Clubโ€™ now play their monthly competitions here at Dodhead with many BGHC members paying the small annual membership fee, playing monthly competitions for historic trophies.
For more information or details of how to join โ€˜The Old Clubโ€™ please contact their Club Secretary at.

Just under 3 weeks until we have our presentation of trophies and medals for the 2024 champions.
Balbirnie Park Golf Club
Friday, 21st February at 7.00 pm.
Buffet to follow.

Hope to see all the Champions and team reps there.

In case you're wondering, due to an oversight, David Gorman (Drumoig) did not receive his medal for winning the Upper Amateur last year.

Before le vin tonique begins to flow this evening, I thought I'd sign this year off by thanking everyone (Clubs, members, helpers and especially those who took part in FGA events) for their support in 2024.

I don't think it has been properly communicated yet (sorry), but congratulations go to Cameron Johnstone (The Dukes) who won the Mackay Bowl for the Gents Order of Merit in 2024. Along with all the other prize-winners, he will be invited along to the Presentation of Prizes which will be held in Balbirnie Park Golf Club on Friday, 21st February 2025.

Most of you will, I'm sure, know by now that FGA are in the process of unifying with the Fife County Ladies Golf Association , so that presentation will, to all intents and purposes, be the last act of the FGA.

For that reason 2025 will have a slightly different look to it although, in the first year at least, most of the events will be the run on the same basis as before.

All the very best for the New Year and I look forward to seeing you all out there enjoying the great game.

Good morning.

It is with great sadness that we learned about the recent passing of Jim Horsfield.

A stalwart of Crail Golfing Society, Jim was FGA President in the years 2011 and 2012 and, I'm sure, known to many of you. For some years he looked after SSS and Handicapping and latterly was a very organised convener of the course rating team.

Our thoughts are with his family at this time

In 2020, Jim (left) received a token of our appreciation for his years of service from Bill Dickson (then President)
