A good outing for some Kirkcaldy boys playing in a tough 10s tournament at Peebles with Some Dunfermline/Grangemouth boys. They started off slow but came into there game towards the end of the tournament just missing out on a trophy in the last game to Peebles B. Great effort and sportsmanship on display.

Well done boys πŸ’ͺ🏻πŸ’ͺ🏻πŸ’ͺ🏻

Youth Rugby – Weekend Round-Up πŸ‰πŸ”₯

It was another action-packed weekend for our youth section, with plenty to shout about across the age groups!

U13/14s were flying high as hosts of this weekend’s Caledonian Clubean Tournament. The squad put on a superb display, showing skill, teamwork and real grit, winning 2 out of their 3 games against good opposition. Their performances didn’t go unnoticed either, with opposition coaches selecting 3 players for Player of the Match honours. Huge congratulations to:
🌟 Kain M
🌟 Robert B
🌟 Thomas B
Outstanding efforts from all involved – a brilliant day on home turf!

U15/16s had a well-earned bye week, using the time to recover after a tough, physical encounter with Glenrothes the previous week. With one crucial Caledonian Cup fixture remaining against Aberdeen Wanderers, and quarter-final places still up for grabs, all eyes are now firmly on the final showdown.

The Colts were in Caley cup action as part of the joint Dunfermline / Kirkcaldy / Grangemouth team, taking on a very strong Stirling County side. Despite a hard-fought match and a tough result, the lads showed real heart and determination. Charlie, Daniel, Ewan A, Adam, Ole and Louis all represented the club with pride and were stand-out performers on the day.

πŸ‰ Youth Rugby Round-Up πŸ‰

A challenging start to the cup campaign with the first round sadly turning into a white-out due to icy conditions, and the Colts match once again being called off this week.

This week, our U15/16s match took to place on the Field of Dreams β€œBevy Park” in the 2nd round cup against a very big and physical Strathmore side. Blues started strongly and showed great intent early on, but as the game went on Strathmore’s size and fitness began to tell. Despite the tough challenge, the boys battled right to the end, with the match finishing 17–47 Strathmore. Plenty of positives to take forward πŸ’™πŸ’ͺπŸ½πŸ‰πŸ’™

Making their first appearance of 2026, our U13/14s competed in the Caledonia Culblean Challenge, joined by Blairgowrie, Kinross and Carnoustie. The format saw each team play one another in 3 x 20-minute matches, with this week’s festival hosted by Blairgowrie.

The lads in BLUE represented the club superbly, playing some excellent rugby across all three games. While the focus was on development and performance rather than results, the scores reflected their hard work and teamwork:
βœ… Carnoustie 14–22
βœ… Kinross 7–26
βœ… Blairgowrie 7–21

πŸ’™A fantastic effort from all age groups involved- well done players, coaches and supporters πŸ’™πŸ’ͺπŸ½πŸ‰

Kirkcaldy/Grangemouth Rugby Club U18s finally got their season up and running in week 7. With 6 league and cup games cancelled due to lack of opposition number, they opened their season in Rd 2 of the cup

The squad battled bravely but came up just short in a tightly contested match against a strong Preston Lodge RFC side, going down 19-24 in front of a supportive home crowd.

The match got off to an energetic start, with both teams looking to assert dominance early. Kirkcaldy opened the scoring with an opportunist try from a Captan Euan 0 as he picked from a ruck and ran 40m to dive under the posts. With the conversion good.

Preston Lodge responded with intensity, capitalising on a handling error to cross over for their first try, which was converted to level the scores. 7-7 HT

Momentum shifted slightly in their favour as they added another try just after halftime, taking a 12-7

Kirkcaldy came out firing. Some good clean ball for Adam at the back of a ruck saw a powerful forward drive resulted in a try under the posts, and the successful conversion nudged them back in front at 14-12. Some strong hits from Louis and Euan in the centres stopped PL in the tracks. While Innis, Noah’s and Ewan were leading the forwards with some power hit ups. This resulted in another fowards try to the Blues, stretching the lead to 19-12.

PL refused to give in and mounted a spirited comeback in the closing stages. A try in the corner narrowed the gap to 19-17, setting up a tense finish. As the clock ticked down some good play saw them score outwide and take the lead 19-24. Despite throwing everything at the visitors in the final minutes, Kirkcaldy couldn’t find the decisive score to sn**ch the win.

It was a gutsy performance from the young Blues, who showed flashes of brilliance and plenty of character throughout the match. With continued effort and development it won’t be long till we see these players in the senior team.

Well played also to PL and good luck in the next round. Thanks also to our match official.

Final Score: Kirkcaldy U18 19 – 24 Preston Lodge U18
Tries: [Kirkcaldy – 3 tries]
Conversions: [2 successful]
