💚 SUMMER LUNCH BUNDLE UPDATE 💚

Our free children’s lunch bundles have now finished at The Eco Therapy Garden.

Over the past four weeks, with support from Knowsley Council, we’ve provided over 400 free lunches to local children. 🥪🍎

Thank you to everyone who has supported the project and to all the families who have visited us.

Please visit Knowsley news and search free summer lunches to find other service providers that may still be available.

🎨 CREATIVITY, CONFIDENCE & CONNECTION AT THE GARDEN 🌿

Another fantastic YES-funded session at The Eco Therapy Garden, with 𝐋𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐬𝐞𝐲’𝐬 𝐀𝐫𝐭 𝐒𝐡𝐞𝐝 | 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐩𝐬 & 𝐂𝐫𝐚𝐟𝐭 𝐂𝐥𝐮𝐛 bringing pottery and clay to the garden this week! 🏺🎨

The sessions were busy once again, with the children getting stuck in, trying something new and creating some brilliant pieces. We’ve also loved hearing their ideas and suggestions for future sessions, helping the young people themselves shape what we offer next. 💚

We were also delighted to welcome Marie Morgan, Merseyside Violence Reduction Partnership Officer and MFRS Strategic Lead for MVRP, to the garden to see our YES-funded sessions in action and the impact they are having.

For us, these sessions are about much more than arts and crafts. They provide a safe, positive and welcoming space where young people can be creative, build confidence, socialise and enjoy meaningful activities during the summer holidays.

Seeing the sessions full, hearing the feedback from the children and watching them proudly show off what they’ve created is exactly what this project is all about. 🌱

A huge thank you to Lindsey’s Art Shed, our funders and everyone helping us make these opportunities possible.

Today marks the completion of a truly special project at The Eco Therapy Garden CIC. A celebration of creativity, connection, and the power of nature in the heart of the city.

In collaboration with the University of Liverpool the research project explored climate change through creative poetry, Dr Shielda Smith and poet facilitator Susan Comer worked alongside garden participants to co-create an extraordinary ethnographic anthology.
The collection features 27 individual poems and six collaborative works, many written by people who had never written poetry before.

Today, on a beautiful summer day, we enjoyed readings, reflection, and shared experience, the event captured something deeply meaningful: how creative expression, grounded in place, can help us understand and respond to environmental change.

The research draws on key ideas from ecopsychology, highlighting the profound relationship between people, place, and wellbeing.

Our book highlights "Against the intensity of the city, the garden emerges as a place of relief: not only from heat exposure, but from noise, overcrowding, and the weight of everyday urban life.
Moments of herbs, shared tea, conversation, and even the struggle with a hosepipe become poetic images, grounding the value of this space in lived experience"

This project reminds us of several critical truths:
🌿 The importance of local voices in environmental research
🌿 The growing urgency of “melting metropolis” challenges — heat, health, and urban living
🌿 The role of green spaces in supporting mental and physical wellbeing
🌿 The power of creativity to connect people with climate realities

Most importantly, it reinforces why we must protect and sustain urban green spaces like the Eco Therapy Garden — not as luxuries, but as essential infrastructure for wellbeing, resilience, and community.

A powerful example of what happens when research, creativity, and community come together.

🥪 170+ free lunches provided in just 2 weeks 💚

We’re proud to share that The Eco Therapy Garden has now provided over 170 free lunches to local children and families during the first two weeks of the summer holidays.

Funded by Knowsley Council , this support is helping families during a time when the extra cost of food and keeping children entertained can place real pressure on household budgets.

Our lunch bundles are making a genuine difference, with families telling us:

“It’s a real help, summer time is really difficult for families.”

“Thank you Eco Therapy Garden for your work, we don’t know what we’d do without you.”

“It’s costing a fortune for a day out currently, I can come to The Eco Therapy Garden and spend the day for free and receive a lunch bundle, the kids love it.”

As always, we’re incredibly grateful to our volunteers and supporters who help make this possible.

A special thank you to Knowsley Council for funding this much-needed support for local families.

🌿 Growing biodiversity, one discovery at a time. 🦋🐦🐸

Thanks to funding from The National Lottery Community Fund The National Lottery Community Fund, we’ve been able to add a series of new wildlife identification boards throughout The Eco Therapy Garden.

From 🐞 bug hunts and 🦋 butterfly spotting, to 🐦 bird watching and 🐸 pond dipping, these interactive boards are helping visitors of all ages connect with the natural world around them.

Our aim isn’t just to create habitats for wildlife, it’s to inspire curiosity, encourage learning and help people understand the incredible biodiversity that exists right here on their doorstep.

Every child who discovers a new butterfly, every family who identifies a bird for the first time, and every pond dipping session that sparks a love for nature is another step towards building a community that values and protects the environment.

💚 Together we’re creating a space where people and wildlife can thrive.

A huge thank you to The National Lottery Community Fund and to every National Lottery player who has helped make projects like this possible.

🧵🌿 What a fantastic start to our ‘Waste Less The Eco Way’ programme! 🌿🧵

This week marked the launch of our 6-week textile craft programme, funded through the Zero Waste Community Fund, and what a brilliant first session it was!

Participants got hands-on with sewing machines, explored new techniques, learned valuable repair and upcycling skills, and created their very first handmade projects using textiles that might otherwise have gone to waste.

It’s amazing how a few pieces of fabric, a little creativity and some guidance can turn unwanted materials into something beautiful while helping to reduce textile waste.

A huge thank you to Jackie Croft for sharing her knowledge and inspiring everyone to give sewing and textile crafts a go.

💚 Missed the first session? Don’t worry!

There are still 5 sessions remaining, and places are available to book individually. You don’t need to have attended the first session to join us.
