This past weekend Scouts went on a survival skills camp. There was pioneering den/shelter building, fire starting, campfire cooking, water filtering, signalling, miswak sticks, s'mores and eventually rescue.

We'll soon be calling last orders for sponsoring a pump, barrel or something bigger. This also includes advertising in our lovely programme included with every glass used over the weekend, being included on our media screens through the event weekend and also some personalised mentions on Social Media.

Last week, the Beavers went back in time to explore healthy living! 🦫
They learned all about exercise, the difference between good and bad foods, and the importance of cleaning their teeth.
Kirkburton Beavers became hunter-gatherers for the evening — making their own miswak (a natural tooth-cleaning stick), and “hunting” and "foraging" for different foods.

Local scouting is always looking for an “extra set of hands.” It doesn’t have to be a weekly commitment. You don’t have to dive in at the deep end and lead a section. You don’t have to be an expert in anything. You just need to be willing to lend a hand. Come along and see for yourself why we do it. You may just find it puts as big a smile on your face as it does for the young people involved.

Thank you to everyone who supported the Guides fundraiser today, they have raised £148.70 so far with two more groups yet to add to the total. One group is doing a read-a-thon this week so if anyone would like to sponsor them please get in touch!📚 The final group held a guess the Jellycat bunny birthday at school 🐰

Today Kirkburton Scouts teamed up with Burton Environment Group - BEG and local residents for our annual litter pick as part of the Great British Spring Clean campaign (Keep Britain Tidy).

In January the Guides had a talk from Forget Me Not Children's Hospice and decided to run a fundraising Spring Fair for them. Please join us on Sunday 29th March for coffee, cake, games and craft stalls!
