Sorry for the delay with the video!

We’re happy to finally share a glimpse of how our second Archaeology Club session went.

The theme of the session was “Archaeology and Art.” The children travelled back in time and explored how people thousands of years ago expressed ideas and told stories through cave paintings and symbols.

During the session the children:
🎨 created their own cave-style drawings and markings
🗿 learned how early humans used art to communicate
📜 discovered interesting facts about life in ancient times
🔎 explored how archaeologists study cave art and what it can tell us about the past

There was lots of creativity, imagination and discussion. The children did a fantastic job creating their own “ancient” artwork and thinking like young archaeologists.

Thank you to all the children for taking part, for their curiosity, creativity and great engagement during the session. It was wonderful to see them so involved and enthusiastic.

Our next session will be dedicated to Digital Archaeology, where we’ll explore how modern technologies — including 3D models and digital tools — help archaeologists study the past.

You can watch the video from the session here 😊

Hi everyone 👋

We’ve officially opened a new season at Humber Young Archaeologists’ Club — and what a start! 🏛️

At our first meeting in Brough we built a Roman fort out of sweets 🍪 marshmallows, biscuits, toothpicks and lots of imagination. We explored Roman history through games, drew a Roman legionary, and designed an ancient stone.

We also uncovered some fun facts.
Did you know that Julius Caesar hated going bald so much that he made it illegal for anyone to stand above him and look down? 👀
And the Romans sometimes used powdered mouse brains as toothpaste 🐭😬

History is hands-on, creative and fun at Humber YAC — and this is only the beginning!
Stay tuned for more adventures 🏺✨

If your child is aged 8-16 and loves history, creativity and hands-on activities — come and join us!
We’d love to welcome new young archaeologists to our friendly club.

New faces are always welcome at Humber YAC — come dig into history with us!
