Members of our Kinver Rivers team were out yesterday taking water samples. We took samples at 10 sites in and around Kinver and once again reported invasive species that we found along the way.

The People's Emergency Briefing is coming to Kinver!!

Join us on Wednesday 15th July at 7pm at St Peter's Church Hall for a screening of the People’s Emergency Briefing - an eye-opening 50-minute film bringing together nine leading UK scientists and experts with the latest evidence and why it matters for things like:

-Extreme weather
-Food security
-Health
-Cost of living

The film is based on the National Emergency Briefing in Westminster (featured by ITV, Channel 4 and The Times) with appearances from Chris Packham, Deborah Meaden, and a range of voices from across the UK.

We will be inviting our local MP, and councillors, and are optimistic that they will join with constituents for this important discussion about our future.

After the film there will be an open discussion about what it means for our community and what we can do locally in Kinver.
We’re also inviting local environmental groups to be at the event to help build support and strengthen links. There'll be a few displays of their work and the opportunities to get involved. We’ll give people time in the evening to come and chat.

Seats are free but to help us manage the seating, please book in advance using the Ticket Tailor link in the comments below.

If after booking you are unable to attend, we’d be very grateful if you could let us know so that we can re-allocate your ticket to someone else.

Bring a friend, neighbour or family member: everyone is welcome.

Teas and coffees will be available on arrival at 7 pm.

Hope to see you there!

THIS SATURDAY!!

♻️ KINVER RE-FUSE/RE-USE ♻️

We'll be down at the Edward Marsh Centre carpark this Saturday collecting unwanted small electricals.

Pop down between 10am and 1pm with your laptops, TVs, small appliances etc (if it uses electricity, we can use it) and we will pass them on to groups who can repair and repurpose them.

Anything beyond repair will get recycled. Bring your goods or just swing by to say hello and find out what else we’re doing to create a sustainable future for our village ♻️🌱

Some great water saving tips 💙💦

If you’re going to start anywhere, start this weekend!

Water Saving Week is about understanding the link between what we use and what rivers need. So now, let’s put that into practice. 💧

It doesn’t have to be complicated, just a few small changes can reduce the pressure on rivers when flows are already low.

This weekend try:
🪥 Turning off the tap while brushing your teeth
🌧️ Collecting rainwater and cooking water for indoor and outdoor plants
🫗 Keep a chilled jug of water in the fridge, that way you don’t have to run the tap for a cold drink!
👗 Wear clothes again if they’re fresh, fewer washes means less water used.
🚿 Fix leaks fast- a dripping tap or running loo can waste huge amounts of water over time.
🍵 Only fill the kettle with the water you need for your brew
🌱 Watering plants in the morning or evening- less evaporation, and more hydration.

These little actions add up across households, across communities, and across the whole catchment keeping water where it belongs- in rivers, supporting wildlife.
