We are just in the process of organising a second screening of the People's Emergency Briefing...hopefully more details to follow soon.

In the meantime one of our volunteers put together this image based on the post-it-notes we received after the first screening of the film.

We asked members of the audience to write down how they were feeling after watching the film.

Our rivers team were out taking water samples a few weeks back to monitor the impact the drought is having on our rivers. Sampling the river in times of drought is even more important - low river levels and rising temperatures can concentrate pollution and lead to harmful algal blooms that endanger freshwater wildlife. We were also tracking the increase once again in invasive species along the river.

We also had the youngest member of our team join us to learn about sampling and the importance of looking after our rivers. Well done Orla!

A HUGE thank you to everyone who joined us last night for our screening of the People's Emergency Briefing. What a fantastic turnout! 50 of you joined us to watch this powerful and incredibly important film and then to discuss what collective and individual actions we can take moving forward. Thank you to Reverend Richard Clarkson for hosting the debate and for answering questions with such clarity and optimism which is exactly what is needed in the face of these startling statistics and predictions.

As it mentions in the film, climate change is an uncomfortable subject and one that can bring up strong emotions (see the post-it notes of how this film made people feel) but when we 'take a deep breath' and go through the information we can see that whilst the facts are stark there are lots of things we can do. We are not powerless but in fact a crucial part of turning things around. But we need more people to know the facts and to want to take action which is why these screenings are so important. The energy in the room at the end was not one of hopelessness and despair but one of optimism and the drive to make a difference. If you missed this screening please look for other local screenings and tell your friends! We are also hoping to organise another screening in Kinver in the near future.

A huge thank you to all our volunteers for making this event possible and for adapting to last minute time changes and road closures!

The People's Emergency Briefing is coming to Kinver!!

Join us on Wednesday 15th July at 7pm at St Peter's Church Hall for a screening of the People’s Emergency Briefing - an eye-opening 50-minute film bringing together nine leading UK scientists and experts with the latest evidence and why it matters for things like:

-Extreme weather
-Food security
-Health
-Cost of living

The film is based on the National Emergency Briefing in Westminster (featured by ITV, Channel 4 and The Times) with appearances from Chris Packham, Deborah Meaden, and a range of voices from across the UK.
We will be inviting our local MP, and councillors, and are optimistic that they will join with constituents for this important discussion about our future.

After the film there will be an open discussion about what it means for our community and what we can do locally in Kinver.

We’re also inviting local environmental groups to be at the event to help build support and strengthen links. There'll be a few displays of their work and the opportunities to get involved. We’ll give people time in the evening to come and chat.

Seats are free but to help us manage the seating, please book in advance using the Ticket Tailor link in the comments below.

If after booking you are unable to attend, we’d be very grateful if you could let us know so that we can re-allocate your ticket to someone else.
Bring a friend, neighbour or family member: everyone is welcome.

We had a fantastic turnout on Saturday despite the heat and collected over 125 electrical items! Fantastic! Thanks so much to those who popped down ♻️ We'll be back at the Edward Marsh Centre carpark on Sat 25th July!
