What is Rotary and what does it do? The Rotary Club of Kinver is part of Ro

tary International, a worldwide network serving the community at local, national and international levels. Our motto is 'Service above Self'. We help fellow citizens at all levels - international disasters, worldwide polio eradication, supporting young people and the elderly locally, fundraising e.g. Christmas sleigh, 10K race. In general, putting something back into society - promoting high ethical standards in all areas of working life. We link with other Rotary Clubs for joint events from time to time and local organisations such as the Kinver Country Fayre. Rotary fosters international goodwill and peace. There are no religious or political affiliations involved. Membership is open to professional men and women; our overriding consideration is to gain people who will make 'good Rotarians'. How many are you? Some 20+ members in the Kinver Club. Clubs all over the UK. Worldwide over 30,000 clubs and a million plus people. Traditionally made up of professional and business people who contribute their services on a voluntary basis, As well as full members we have Friends of Rotary who help with activities when they can and are kept in touch about social events, etc When, where do you meet? At The Fox Inn, Stourton, once a week on Monday evenings. We have a meal together and usually a guest speaker. There is a regular programme of social and fundraising events over the year e.g. Children in Need quiz, harvest auction, Christmas Party, musical events. Members' spouses, partners, guests are invited. How much does it cost? Full Memberships costs just over £2 a week by annual subscription. Our Monday meal costs £15.00. Members are encouraged to attend as often as possible to develop friendships, goodwill and a spirit of shared fun in service for others. Becoming a ‘Friend of Kinver Rotary’ is free. What's in it for me? The opportunity to serve your community, get satisfaction from helping others, make new friends and enjoy shared fellowship, strengthen and develop new skills, impart your knowledge and abilities to others. How do I join? We find the best approach is to attend one of our Monday meetings, share a meal (first free) as a guest of a Rotarian, get a feel for the club and what we do. If you like what you see you will be encouraged to attend a few more meetings and then attend an information meeting to explain all about membership followed by formal induction into membership. (Rest assured, no weird rituals involved!)
