We met a lovely chap called Nigel recently. He wandered into the community workshop commenting on how he can't escape bikes! Turns out he was nextdoor in the charity bookshop and saw us.
For the last 20odd years Nigel has been collecting/sourcing old bikes and spare parts that nobody wants and packing them up into a container and shipping them to Gambia where he has a team of folks willing to do whatever it takes to get them up and running, enabling people to cycle to school or work or the market.
Not everything we get donated is viable for reuse. So we were able to load up Nigel's trailer with around 30 bikes that will be in a container next and on a ship to Gambia.
Typically these bikes would have been stripped and scavenged and recycled.( But we much prefer reuse to recycle 😊 )
Thanks Nigel
