https://www.kingtonwalks.org/index.php/festival-program Kington Walks is a registered Charity with the sole purpose of promoting community participation in healthy recreation by encouraging and enabling people to partake in regular walks as a form of exer

cise in Kington and the surrounding area. As well as our bi annual walking festivals, we have a weekly walking for health group and an active footpath maintenance team, led by the Kington footpath officer, working closely with other parish footpath officers and Herefordshire Council. We were established by the Kington Chamber of Trade in 2011 to promote sustainable tourism and to help to preserve Kington's unique atmosphere with support from Herefordshire Council and Kington Town Council. We successfully applied for 'Walkers Are Welcome' status for the town in the same year.

Lovely day carrying out a final recce of the Trig Pillar Trail walk for the Kington Walking Festival (17-20th September) that celebrates the 90th anniversary of the first Trig Pillar and the start of the Retriangulation of Great Britain 1935-1962. Its a great walk and if you ever wondered what Trig Pillars are all about you'll find out!

There are still plenty of other walks to book so take a look at www.kingtonwalks.org to book.

The Kington Autumn Walking Festival is open for bookings and there are plenty of places on all walks. This post is late due to ridiculous issues with Meta with our Facebook account.
There are walks from 2-13 miles covering historical, botanical, geological subjects and even a walk celebrating the 90th anniversary of the Trig Pillar.
We also have our usual events with our casserole evening, a Drovers Talk and the amazing Whiskey River Quartet.

Footpath team out again today, replacing a worn out stile with a kissing gate on the Mortimer Trail up on the top of Brampton Scar and then replacing a finger post up on the trail towards Kington.

Starting to work on the programme for our September Walking Festival (17-20th September 2026).
Today, I've been out recceing a new Trig Pillar Trail walk to celebrate the 90th anniversary of the first Trig Pillar this year. Everything you ever wanted to know about Trig Pillars and the Retriangulation of Great Britain 1935-1962 and a cracking walk as well!
We will hopefully have the programme of walks on our website by early July.
We are still looking for walk leaders and/or backmarkers so please get in touch with us if you would like to be involved.

The final stile replaced on the Offa's D**e Path in the local area by the Kington Walks footpath team. While we were finishing it a walker with a dog came along and was so thankful as such stiles are so difficult for some humans and a lot of dogs!

Kington Walking Festival - Weather Looking Fine!

Only 5 days to go until the Walking Festival and the weather forecast is very good 😎. There are still walks of all grades available to book at www.kingtonwalks.org and remember all walk fees go to support the work we do from footpath maintenance to walking for health.
