Our Story
Following Dan’s passing in April 2017, his funeral fund raised over £3,000. A fantastic amount, which we donated to Birmingham Children’s Hospital (B*H), where Dan received most of his care and treatment, a truly remarkable place, not only for the equipment and treatments they provide, but also for the staff who work there, they will always be in our hearts for everything they did for Dan.
Further money was raised by his school, Kingswinford Academy, through a number of different events. His friends from Kingswinford and Summerhill schools raced in his memory and raised even more money. Such a wonderful thing for them to do. Mike a swimming instructor at Learning 4 Life in Wordsley, wanted to organize a sponsored swim, which raised over £5,000.
We wanted to continue this good work in Dan’s memory and set about organising the first of our events, in June 2018, We are now in full swing with the third event, a comedy night.
All money raised has been donated to those organisations who helped to look after Dan during his short period of illness, B*H, Russells Hall, KIDS Ambulance, and to Ronald McDonald house, where we stayed during our time in B*H. We have also donated over £4,000 to the University of Birmingham who are conducting research into Anaplastic Large Cell Lymphoma, which is so aggressive.
