Fastminds Adult ADHD Support Group

Fastminds Adult ADHD Support Group Fastminds is a non-profit peer-lead support group in Kingston for adults with ADHD or suspected ADHD

Our aims are to promote and protect the physical and mental health of adults affected by ADHD, improve their quality of life, and promote social inclusion among adults with ADHD in Kingston and surrounding areas. We do this by:
• Running regular support group meetings (in person and on Zoom) for knowledge sharing and open discussions.
• Running monthly (via Zoom) for talks by specialist speakers

on topics related to ADHD
• Running regular art group sessions – because Neurodiverse folks often find it easier to express ourselves creatively, and selling artwork and merchandise created by our Members helps us raise funds for our group
• Organising events to raise awareness of ADHD, co-occurring conditions and Neurodiversity, and raise money for our group. For example, you may have attended one of our Neurodiverse Arts Festivals, and you’ll often find our stall at The Hampton Inspired Hub monthly bazaar.
• Offering advocacy and general support to our Members (if Volunteers are available) - accompanying them to appointments; helping them get a referral for an assessment; helping them fill in forms; etc.
• offering trauma-informed training - to the public and professionals

Good on you Tom Holland for being your authentic self by revealing how you turned down a role you'd been offered because of your lifelong hidden disability.

NEW BLOG!

Too often, people affected by hoarding face inconsistent or crisis-led responses, when what’s really needed is compassionate, person-centred support built on trust and understanding.

As conversations around national hoarding guidelines gain momentum, it’s more important than ever to recognise that hoarding is not simply about “too much stuff.” It’s complex, deeply personal, and often linked to trauma, grief or mental health challenges.

Professional organisers can play a vital role - offering calm, practical, non-judgemental support that helps people make sustainable change at their own pace.

Good support means working with people, not against them.

📢NEW - Please complete our survey to help shape the future of thyroid research

Thyroid disease affects millions, yet it remains under-researched.

And when research does happen, the focus is usually decided on by researchers or their funders.

This can make it seem like your real-life experiences are not well reflected in research.

We want to change that. So we’re leading a James Lind Alliance Priority Setting Partnership for Thyroid Disease to identify the top 10 unanswered questions that thyroid research should focus on next.

But we can’t do it without you!

Whether you live with a thyroid condition, support someone who does, or work in this area, your opinion matters.

🔗Please complete our online survey to tell us what questions you want researchers to answer from our homepage or https://www.smartsurvey.co.uk/t/VVENRK/

Please share so that as many people affected by thyroid conditions as possible can tell us what research matters to them. Thank you.

📆It's Mental Health Awareness Week

Thyroid conditions can cause many psychological symptoms, especially when thyroid levels are not well controlled.

And yet these symptoms are often overlooked, which can make it feel like no-one else understands.

We've worked with health psychologist, Dr Sue Jackson, to produce a series of articles exploring some of the psychological symptoms that can accompany thyroid conditions.

You can read more in our psychological wellbeing hub, as well as find further sources of support for your mental health.

Your thyroid is so much more than “just being tired.” 💜🩵🩷

It affects your heart, muscles, digestion, temperature, mood, memory, hair, bones, and so much more. When your thyroid is struggling, your entire body feels it.

So many thyroid cancer warriors and thyroid disease patients are told:
“Your labs look fine.”
…while still fighting symptoms every single day.

This is your reminder that:
✨ You are not lazy.
✨ You are not crazy.
✨ Your symptoms are real.
✨ And you deserve to be heard.

Whether you’re newly diagnosed, post-thyroidectomy, radioactive iodine treatment, struggling to balance meds, or simply searching for answers — you are not alone here. 🤍

Education saves lives.
Early detection matters.
Advocacy matters.
And so do YOU.

Drop a 💜 if thyroid disease or thyroid cancer has affected your life in any way.

We're hugely proud of one of our Trustees - Cherry Rudge - who created the Hoarding Ice-Breaker Form and was one of the people responsible for starting National Hoarding Awareness Week back in 2014!

Today is the start of National Hoarding Awareness Week (11-15th May 2026) - the annual campaign across the political, health and social care communities to raise awareness of the risks associated with hoarding behaviours.
