Are you ready to make some positive changes for your AU?

We have two volunteer roles for Non-BUCS and Recreational Sports team members open ready to be filled with students who are passionate about the AU's sporting offer.

In this role, you will lobby and campaign on behalf of the sports you are representing to help them have the best experience possible with HUSU. You will also be on our events committee and help run AU Ball, Varsity and Sports Awards! Interested? Head over to our bio to submit your application and if successfully shortlisted, you will be invited to an interview for the role.

Want to represent the AU as a whole? Our AU PTO role is currently vacant and will be open for club members to run for in our Autumn Elections. In this paid role, you will represent the whole AU, campaign to make the AU experience better, and sit on our Sports Board. Keep an eye out for more info over the next few months đź‘€

🏆SPORTS AWARDS 2025🏆

Thank you to all those who attended on Friday night! There was nearly 400 of you and we presented nearly 100 awards across the evening, including our big 18! Congratulations to all our winners, you had done is so proud this year!

🏀TEAM OF THE MONTH🏀

Our final Team of the Month for the 2024-2025 academic year is Men’s Basketball. They have been successful on and off the court this year. Their social media presence is unique and professional, and is consistently promoting their activity. Over the course of the year have attended other clubs christy events, hosted their own, and are hoping to do more fund and awareness raising before the year is finished.

Looking back on the last month, for Varsity, their social media was incredibly active building up to the event, and they won both of their games with their 2s winning 64-53 and the 1s winning 71-68. The atmosphere was amazing, the support was unmatched and they did HUSU proud. Well done Men’s Basketball!

It was lovely to meet Councillor Holly Burton with Raji, President of Union development, to discuss student wellbeing.

We talked about the cost of living, accommodation, part-time job challenges, migration, and transportation.

Cllr Holly, a former HUSU President, now a dedicated Councillor at Hull has been supportive.

She helped arrange a visit for HUSU Council members and Course Reps to the Guildhall, where they learnt about the city's history and culture of Hull city and discuss student-related issues.

The winner of Team of the Month is Wheelchair Basketball

Wheelchair Basketball is a club who welcome members of any ability, they currently are competing in Northern Tier 1 in the BUCS league.

Over Disability History Month they hosted a Give It a Go session where more than 15 students experienced a completely new sporting experience.

Being able to provide students with a new experience cannot only enhance their experience at the University, but also raises the profile of Wheelchair basketball as a sport.
