Have you ever tried sacrificial planting? I planted this spare cabbage about 2.5 years ago on my garden. I never expected to eat it. But it's been home to many an insect, and kept growing regardless. Fresh leaves for the next batch of insects. It's about 45 cm tall with no base layer leaves as they have all been eaten. But it seems quite happy 😊 meanwhile my plants have less insects to eat them :) it's a much nicer way to help the ecosystem them than spraying pesticides.

The birds near us shout to me when they need seed 🤣. Recently next door had their tree cut down where we had loads of birds, but I was pleased to hear them still shouting at me this morning 🥰 Bird table stocked with seed 😁

We had a busy day yesterday- first official day on our wetlands/habitat plot. Preparing the site by lifting grown cover laid by previous owner, unfortunately there was way more than we anticipated and it all had to be dug out!

Excellent days work though, thanks for all the help!!

Did you know that moss is amazing for soaking up water and removing CO2 from the air?

It actually looks nice like this as well, like a natural green carpet :)
If you have a patch growing and it's not in the way, why not leave it? You wouldn't believe the eco system it houses as well 🥰🥰🥰

At the end of the school year, and end of working with the year 5s from St. Richards, they completed their work with this amazing video!

If you have time to pause.... look and see what's in your space. This was a single giant daisy, in the middle of the grass.

The planters we had donated by EMS are looking great now the plants are getting established.
Kids from St. Richards helped us get them planted up, and they are now starting to look really nice at the front of the plot :)

This beautiful damsel fly and its friend were fluttering around the pond exactly 1 week after the pond plants went in 🥰🥰

The final touches added to the pond in the last few weeks have made all the difference. How amazing is this!
The kids from St.Richards School have grafted, enjoyed their time and made a massive difference on our community allotment.

True story :)

This is how slugs are kept under control in a garden. DON'T USE CHEMICALS, use nature. If your garden is not attracting predators, it is out of balance with nature, and that is why you have a slug problem. (UK Post)

Dig a hole until you hit clay!
Dig a bucket load, soak it in water. Clear out the stones and roots, then leave the kids to make models of things they have seen 🥰🥰🥰
