Yesterday we held remembrance services in Hull and Bridlington, for National Fishing Remembrance Day. We were so moved by the people and organisations that came to show support.

We all stood unified in remembrance and thanks. A reminder that we are all stronger together and more able support our fishing community in partnership. ⚓️

We do hope to see you again next year.

Thank you to Trinity House Hull for giving us the space to hold this years service.

Today is National Fishing Remembrance Day, we're holding memorial services across the coastline of the British Isles, to remember those from the fishing community that we have lost.

The Fishermen’s Mission are incredibly proud of our fishing communities and we will continue to support those connected to the industry, past and present. ⚓💙

Today we remember those from our fishing communities who served and sacrificed their lives during WW2. Many are not aware of the contributions made by every day fishermen, who were often mobilised for naval duty, they worked to keep our communities safe and fed.
Their legacy lives on in Hull and across the Humber and Yorkshire, they will not be forgotten. đź’™

This morning we're at the Fishing Heritage Centre on Hessle Road. Please do come and have a chat with us if there is something you are unsure of, or would like some support with.

There is a wonderful group that runs each Thursday morning "Messdeck Memories", where former fisherman can get together and reminisce about their days at sea. Do come along đź’™

Fishermen are more important to us than some of us realise.
Our fishing industry provides a huge amount of food for all of us and supports our economy, as these stats from our friends at Seafish show.

There are over 7,000 full-time equivalent jobs provided by the industry in a year. Yet it remains one of the most dangerous careers someone could have.

We want the people behind those numbers to receive more recognition, especially those who have lost their lives bringing home the catch.
This National Fishing Remembrance Day on Sunday 10 May, we are pausing to remember the real impact every fisherman has made.
