Kingsclere Photo Club

Kingsclere Photo Club We are a small, friendly, camera club for people interested in sharing and improving their picture taking. Mix of talks, practicals, critique and photowalks.

Annual exhibition mid October. We are a small, friendly, grass-roots camera club for people interested in sharing and improving their picture taking without getting competitive. We have around 30 members of all abilities, beginners to competent. Most meetings require you to just bring yourself. On the occasions when we have a practical sessions, members are encouraged to bring their own camera equ

ipment and join in. We also have a couple of speaker meetings a year when external experts visit, show their photographs and talk on their subject of expertise. We hold an annual exhibition in the autumn when all members are invited to display a panel of images. Entry to the exhibition is free, and we usually have a visitor vote for 'favourite picture'. For further info on the club see our website www.kingsclerephoto.org

A talk by our Ian Wallace on ‘Zines’

Ian Wallace will give us an introduction to zines — what they are and the opportunities they bring to get your work seen without incurring a lot of expense and hassle.
He’ll talk about his experiences of producing them (some will remember having seen some examples at previous meetings) and give us a few practical tips to guide us if we feel like experimenting with them. He’ll also bring along some examples from his collection for us to view, and promises a few practical exercises to be undertaken during the tea break!

Time permitting, we’ll finish the evening with a swift run-through of the remainder of the images people submitted to January’s ‘Our Three Favourite Images from 2025’ review — those that we didn’t get time to view at that meeting. They nevertheless deserve to be seen and enjoyed.

With sadness we hear about the passing of the legendary Martin Parr, an inspirational 'Street' photographer who I am sure has influences many photographers.

It is with great sadness that we announce that Martin Parr (1952-2025) died 6th December 2025 at home in Bristol. He is survived by his wife Susie, his daughter Ellen, his sister Vivien and his grandson George. The family asks for privacy at this time. The Martin Parr Foundation and Magnum Photos w...

After our recent AGM we held our 'Print of the Year' competition, we had a real variety of pictures to enjoy looking at!

This year’s favourite (with 13 points) was Tony Matthews with ‘Medusa’ taken in Savernake Forest, congratulations Tony!

Joint runners up (all with 10 points) were Liz Hammond with ‘Reflecting on the Moment’, Tony Matthews with 'Fallen Oak’ and Bob Day with ‘Fireworks over the Village Club’.
Very closely followed in joint third (with 9 points) were Chris Brown, Rowena Hensman and Sheilah Openshaw, well dome all!

Our 2026 programme has been finalised and will be posted here soon.................

Thank you to everyone who visited our exhibition, we had a very nice selection, but strangely no birds this year!
Thank you to members who help to set up, steward, and/or help to take down, a real group effort, and especially Rebecca for preparing the inviting sales table in such a nice way.

Chris Brown’s lovely G4 ‘Skjeret Island, Lustrafjorden’ took the public vote this year, with his G1 ‘Sogndal, Barnesfjorden’ coming second, both from his ‘Reflections of Norway’ panel.
Bob Day’s impressive D3 ‘Orbit’ came third.

Paul Enters’s stunning panel of black & white images of trees was voted most by members as their favourite panel, with Chris Brown’s lovely ‘Reflections of Norway’ second, and Mike Harrison’s dramatic ‘Lake District in Snow’ third.

I’m glad many visitors and members were able to see the show.
Photos of all the panels on our website in due course, as a lasting record of our work.

Sales of our 2026 calendar @ just £7 each helps to fund the hall hire, if anyone was not able to purchase one they will soon be in Swan Street Stores, or direct from myself or Tony.

Gareth Martin 🙂
